Well, until Runner Havens comes out it seems safe to assume they're SR4, as well.

I don't think I'm spoiling anything if I say there was no earthquake or tsunami affecting Seattle. So those maps should be OK for SR4...

May I suggest Google Earth? A free service with some excellent satellite imagery and the ability to look at the locations and names of all parks, schools, bars, etc in an area. Plus you can set your own waypoints (for things like Matchsticks, Dante's Inferno, the Renraku Arcology, etc).

I've lived in Seattle 29 years, if you're patient and post questions I'll try to answer as best I can. The previous seattle source books have left out lots of important details, for example the neighborhood the Aztechnology pyramid is in is on top of a fairly tall hill, or the area the Arcology is built in is mostly fill dirt on top of old tide flats (so they most likely have to pump seawater out of the basement). If you want to know about an area ask I'll try to give a good answer, it would be cool if others could do the same for their hometowns.

So maybe the Azzie building was built on top of/ around the intact hill?! Why??
stevebugge, get yer spelunking gear and go check it out for us! While you're at it, here's a question: any of the bars, restaurants mentioned actually exist? I presume some of the other landmarks are real. What else? |

It would be on top of, Capitol Hill as the Neighborhood is known (so called because it was once housed the Capitol of Washington State, the capitol was traded by Seattle to Olympia for the rights to house the University of Washington) is rather large. The uphill grade starts about 7th avenue (west facing slope) in downtown and levels off at about Broadway then begins down hill again at about 23rd avenue finally Leveling off about Martin Luther King Jr. Way. North to South it runs from the Canal down to I-90. If your curious the hill is composed primarily of Sand, then a layer of clay, and finally bedrock. The hill reaches about 500ft at the highest point. Where the Azzie Pyramid is located is today mostly old apartment buildings, Broadway is a center for Gay Culture, drugs, and trendy boutiques.
Some of the landmarks are real, some of the others are based on real places. The Eye the of the Needle is real, and really is a highpriced tourist trap restaurant. Club Penumbra, Dante's Inferno, and Matchsticks all do not exist today. Dante's Address is the present day Federal Courthouse, and Matchsticks Address is Occupied by a Gas Station and a 7-11. Lonestar has taken up residence in the building currently used as Nordstroms discount and over stock outlet called The Rack. Most of Seattle's present day clubs in Downtown are located in Pioneer Square, which is covered by the Archology. If you have the original Seattle Source book, the Gravity Bar really exists but it's an Espresso & Juice Bar. |

Wow, my maps are still being used. I made them on photoshop, and each letter had its counterpart labeled on the map, but somehow when I transferred them to pdf I lost that layer. I have retransferred them with all the information and have put a few of them posted here under shadowrun:
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/vdenboer@sbcglobal.net I will have the rest there within the next few days. |

If you want to see a flash map of downtown, I found one playing awake2062 (SR3 MUD), but it should still be pretty good resource as well.

Here are links for a couple of seattle clubs that could be updated as locations for your games.
http://www.theruins.net The ruins is a private event space in an old building in lower Queen Anne featuring many themed rooms, an excellent bar, and catered food. Members or or member sponsored guests only. Perfect place to meet that High Society Johnson. Http://www.jazzalley.com This is the club that probably inspired matchsticks in the sourcebook. Features live jazz and great food, and yes the entry is located in an alleyway. |

what I was hoping to find is a map of the greater seattle area, color coded by security level. Does such an animal exist?

I've never seen one. The sourcebooks don't really show just where the various neighborhoods the describe "security codes" for are do they. If you have a landmark or neighborhood in mind I'll try to help.
I can save maps from Delorme Street Atlas as Bitmaps and try to overlay security codes then convert to PDF's but it does take some time. If someone has somewhere to host them let me know. You know what would be really cool is a SR GIS program. |

Ok on the color coded maps, I actually started in on one last night, just the downtown core so far. Haven't Finished yet, but it can be done I'm doing them on a block by block level (trust me with the low level programs I'm using it just works better). I'll start working on other neighborhoods moving out from Downtown as I have time. If anyone has a special request post it here and I'll see what I can do

Any chance you could just zip them all up in a single file and host? Would make it alot easier for those of us who want them all. By the way I really like them and I appreciate your work. :) |

Bellevue. Ok I'll get started on it. I'm doing these at a pretty high level of detail so doing the entire Bellevue District will take some time. I'll start with the Bellevue Downtown Core and work from there. |

I'll check it out. I might also hide them in a sub-directory on one of my other sites, since it looks like Yahoo has granted me quite a bit more storage space. If I do I'll put a link up. |

The service I use to post the maps only allows 15mb per file, and it takes forever to load them up. So I can't zip them all together ( I know this would be nice). The reason I haven't put up the rest is because of the time it takes to post them, I promise to have them up soon. |
