It says that the type of service you can request from a spirit is determined by your tradition, etc. Does that mean for a Hermetic Mage you can only ask fire spirits do to combat? And air spirits can only do detection?

I think this is refering to the type of aid sorcery aid learing etc etc services. All spirits can do combat or use the search power if they possess. But to add thier force to your rolls it requires the specific spirit TYPE.

In other words, for a hermetic to get the Aid Sorcery for a Combat Spell, he'd need to use a Fire Elemental, since Fire spirits are hermetics combat sphere.

Does that use up a service for each spell or each time period? It didn't say so in the book, but it was kind of ambiguous.
