A critical botch with that would be painfully funny. |

So, basically, even though they're plausible, EMP's are banned because they destroy everything in their path.

When did it's being banned ever stop a shadowrunner from wanting something?
... hell, when did it's being banned ever not ENCOURAGE a shadowrunner to GET something? |

http://www.tfd.chalmers.se/~valeri/EMP.html AN interesting bit on EMP's I'm still not convinced of the plausibility of a Grenade Sized EMP device, mostly due to power output problems. The Power Packs for the Ares MPIII Laser were only good for 10-15 shots of M level damage in SR3 and was significantly larger than a handgrenade, the ANDREWS System in Rigger 3 Required a Nuclear Powered Vessel for installation. The explosive powered EMP devices described in the linked paper are either much larger than a grenade using conventional explosives, and have to be air burst at a significant altitude for any sort of efficacy or Thermo-Nuclear devices, which are also much less effective when ground burst (I also believe that at ground level a One Megaton warhead was required for the EMP blast to exceed the range of the shockwave). |

two pages, same topic.
http://weblog.physorg.com/news3887.html http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn8288 dont recall if any of them have been up on dumpshock before... point is that this will use photons (light) rather then electrons to trigger the fiber. resulting in both faster reactions, and in more protection against emp waves ;) |
