On the surface, it seems a silly idea, but I'd been thinking of doing an X-Mas themed run.

Think about it-Northern complex/arcology. Tons of elves working for two Spirits (anima/animus)-Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Major corp power offering a subscription service for kids of megacorp parents who can't spare the time to monitor nor buy for their own kids. Airship (Sleigh-series) freight delivery, maybe peryton air support (along with armed elves). Matrix access to monitor behavior (good jumping off point for other runs, too-imagine what info Santa'd be privy to).

Throw in some wendigo and shapeshifters to add spice to the run-data steal, snatch and grab, or maybe even one where Santa's the Johnson...

Any help-or do I just 'need help'?

(Sorry, lack of sleep does this sort of thing to me.)

You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Big Brother is coming to town
He's making a list
And checking it twice;
Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice
Big Brother is coming to town
He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!
O! You better watch out!
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Big Brother is coming to town
Big Brother is coming to town

That tends to be what goes on for XMas runs, should be interesting. Hopefully you don't get any radical "free information" folks around or the first run of that series will be "steal tactical nuke". <_< >_>

If Santa is a free spirit, then it's possible some corp would be involved in various rituals to try to bind it. Therefore, (insert shadowrunner group name here) Saves Santa!
Be sure to toss in an arbitrary pterodactyl.

A few years ago, I had a corporate Johnson hire the 'runner team on Christmas Eve.

He'd been visited by a ghost, warning him that he'd be visited later that night by three other ghosts.

The 'runners worked as bodyguards, and happily defended him from the three spirits that later attempted to disrupt his night's rest. ;)

That is wonderfully evil. I love it.

We've done several xmas runs but are like minicampaigns, not just one night.

Do the runners have to dress up like KISS, or do they already suck?

If they succeed, do they get the plutonium they wanted?

Depends on if the group has a rocker archetype.

Sure, Santa's a generous free spirit.

From Knight Errant Intelligence Estimate 0909ZC29647T/System Index Code Key Words (SICK Words): "Kris Kringle", "Santa's Elves", "Organized Crime", "Secret Societies/Organizations", "Fraud/Counterfeiting", "Shadowruns/Shadowrunners"...X

[1]: Entity of meta-planer origin known as Kris Kringle, A.K.A. "Santa Clause", A.K.A, "Saint Nick", A.K.A "Father Christmas"-A.K.A various other non-legal identity related to, or derived from, various Christmas legends. officially classified as a "Free Spirit" entity of a previously unrecognized category or a totally unique entity.

[2]: Kris Kringle is known to operate a large clandestine network within the sprawl that operates at least one and possibly several underground facilities in which counter fit merchandise (primarily toys and other consumer items marketed to children) is produced. This network is informally referred to on the street as "Santa's Elves".

[3]: "Santa's Elves" are listed as a clandestine organization dedicated to a criminal enterprise (fraud, tax evasion, etc...), whos primary activity is the illegal production of counterfeit merchandise, which is then wrapped in Christmass themed paper and distributed by the gang (primarily to SINless, poor, and other disadvantaged youth) under the direction, and with the assistance of, Kris kringel. The gang is of slim Elven majority, with (meta)Humans of other types wearing obvious prostatic ear extensions, and occasionally wearing other Elf or Christmas themed garments (shoes, hats, vests, etc...). A substantial portion of the gang is magically active, and past witness accounts would support the assertion that a substantial number of free spirts also assist in the gang's activities.

[4]: The gang is thought to have an informal alliance with other similar organizations in other sprawls, and analysis suggests that some rudimentary infrastructure dedicated to operational coordination has been established in one of several possible locations distributed across a wide trans-polar search area.

[5]: Shadowrunners. "Santa's Elves" are known in the past to have hired various individuals, established crews, and even organized several independent contractors into a unique operational team, to carry out shadowruns; primarily related to the theft of data (engineering plans and details for various toys and games) from the corporations which developed them (presumably a necessity for their counterfeit toy operation, it is unlikely that they have either the time or the resources necessary to reverse engineer every one of the wide variety of toys that they manufacture and distribute). "Santa's Elves" have also employed Shadowrunners to perform security operations, supplementing their ability to secure their clandestine manufacturing facilities and toy distribution operations. The large number and consistency of this practice indicates that the employment of shadowrunners is a part of the standard operating strategy of the gang.

The high concentration of magical assets (skilled in the employment of detection magic), largely close nit and ideological structure, and wide support from the communities in which they operate-coupled with the low threat that they pose and the minimal impact that have on economic operations accounts for the failure of past KE operations designed to infiltrate the group.

End of Estimate...x

Thank You. :)

Feedback is always welcome, but positive feedback is extra welcome because there is no need to say things like, "Feedback is always welcome", when you don't really mean it at all. 8)

Didn't BlackJack used to have something on his site about a crazy free spirit (with wealth power, of course) masquerading as Santa in the barrens? I looked on his site, but couldn't find it.

you're short a beat on that first one... maybe 'a cartridge in a predator III'?

i mean, really... it's the most repeated line in that whole thing... you gotta get that one right ;)

[QUOTEA Partridge in a Pear Tree[/QUOTE]

Really, the only changes are cartridge -> partridge (no beat difference) and "predator" to "pear tree" -- predator has 3 syllables, pear tree has 2. I'm over a beat, but if you mangle it grunge style it fits.

Your suggestion still works, you can just sing "predator" in triple beat, and add "three" to the end. I say *you* because I can't sing. At all. Least of all, in triple beat.

hmmm... right you are...

actually, i think the problem is that for some reason i automatically speed up at "in a..."

hmmm... not sure why... that's rather odd... i think, however, that i'm going to chalk it up to the fact that i have more recently heard the veggie tales version (my sister worked at a children's toy store at the time) and that's the cadence they use...

so, uhhh... carry on. nothing to see here :P

[edit] hmmm... further analysing in my head, i think the shortening may occur in the "-artridge" portion even... odd... [/edit]
