QUOTE (Stonecougar)
Dr. Pain-

There aren't enough points to a starting character to express how much of a badass Freeman is.

"I'm a theoretical physicist with an automatic weapon. F*ck with me not, head crab."

Or you could get the marine from Opposing force, or even better, Barney from Blue Shift

Just what every runner wants to meet, an unaugmented, mundane, low-ranking security guard capable of taking on dozens of fully trained marines...

Heh, for freeman the first is the ability to carry ludicrous amounts of heavy weaponry and ammunition. :D

Heck no.

Freeman/Barney/Cpl. Shephard (OpFor Marine) > Doom or Quake guys.

Well, Let's see, Freeman carried a crowbar, 9mm pistol (Glock 17), .357 mag revolver, 9mm SMG with underbarrel GL, double barreled shotgun, a clip fed crossbow, a laser guided RPG, the Gluon gun (blue beam gun), the Gauss Gun (Yellow beam chargeable gun), the hornet gun, then there were laser tripmines, c-4 satchels, regular grenades, and those little snark dudes. Maybe that suit of his gives an STR bonus...and with all the protection it gave, I'd give it the same stats as Med. Security armor..

Oh hell no.
But this could easily turn into a flamewar, so I'm going to drop that.

I will admit, the marine from Doom had a certain sand to rely on his brass knucks for melee weapons...

And they did as much damage as a pistol shot, is the beautiful thing.
I'll do up the other ninja of Shinobi when I get a chance.

Which is the WORST GUN EVER. The pistols in that game are so far superior to every other firearm, its ridiculous.

I'll admit the gun did suck, but the grenade launcher made it worth its salt. The 9mm pistol also sucked, when it got to later levels. The magnum was excellent, though, capable of taking out even the toughest enemies in a couple shots.

Actually, the crossbow was much better than most of the non-energy weapons, now that I think about it.

For anyone with the appropriate 'ware (PS2 & G-Con 2) try Resident Evil: Dead Aim. Kick-ass game even though the plot is kinda... still.

Gimme the guns - Assault rifle kicks ass, as does the magnum. Good selection in general actually - you start with a 15 round hand gun, then the 7 round shotgun. You get a BF capable Glock next and then a silenced 8 round pistol. Then there's the AR - at 100 rounds full auto, the Grenade Launcher (6 rounds) and the ubiquitous "big nasty ray gun for taking out the Big Boss, that cannot be used in any other encounter"™ I can't remember what order you get them in, though.

All in all, a good fun game for diversion. Kinda puts the edge on things...

The Crossbow is a good weapon. But the 9mm pistol is awsome. Dead on accurate, granted you aren't going to blow up a tank with it, but still one of the best guns in the game.
