Well, I'm not really paying attention. I just summarized the rules because it helps me learn them ;)

Triangulation would have to be the only way, I guess, since you can't tell how far out something is without knowing what its signal rating is ahead of time. On a run... just try every hidden node until you find the right ones, I guess ;)

Josie's Ettiquite test:

CODE
Charisma (2) + Ettiquite (0) = 2
Rolls 1, 6 Hits: 1, Glitch.

Realizing that he has no chance with the bouncers on his own, Josie will have to drop Chiller's name or comm him inside.

Reroll that test with one die. Defaulting applies a (-1) to your dice pool, and you don't have Etiquette. Of course, you still need two successes to sleaze your way in, so just make sure you don't critical glitch. Chiller can get you in.

On the rules question regarding hidden nodes, the book does make it clear that it is difficult to find one if you don't know what you're looking for. On runs, it would probably be obvious when you get a list of hidden nodes that they are security or network devices. Also, you could do a matrix perception test to see what type of node it was: comm, remote device, etc. The more you can walk around, the better triangulation will work, because you need the signal rating to vary.

Okay, that's fine, this is like my.. .second.. SR4 game ever. :-) So I've never actually been on a run where I needed to pinpoint hidden nodes.

No prob. By the way, the guy in the white suit will get up as soon as you head for the door to the right of the bar. Do you head in that direction? I'll take that post, so just tell me generally what your character would do. Also, make a perception test on him when you get closer.

Can others tell when you're assensing them? I assume not, and the following will only happen if that's correct ;)

Assensing the three targets:
CODE
Intuition (3) + Assensing (3) = 6 dice
Target 1: 6 5 6 4 2 2  Hits: 3
Target 2: 5 3 6 6 3 6  Hits: 4
Target 3: 6 6 6 5 1 5  Hits: 5

*boggle* Oh, good, I'm getting every last bit of luck out of the die roller before anything important happens.

For the most part, yes. If they were astrally perceiving, they could tell that you were astrally perceiving and might guess you were assensing them, although that would be an outside chance. Of course, you had to get a critical success on my actual NPC...bah! Heh, oh well, you get the book on him.

MrMiracle
Ok, you didn't critical glitch. Just get Chiller to help out.

These etiquette tests are the Man's way to keep the Tuskers away from the pretty ladies in the bars!

The way this is going, it looks like it is turning into needing a run just to get to the meet with the Johnson.

Everyone
As soon as Mister Juan checks in with his entrance, we're pretty much ready to go. Someone will take care of making sure you know where to go, in case you don't already. So sit back and drink at the bar or something for just a bit.

Everyone
Basically, everything should be in place for you to get yourself to the meeting room. I don't have a problem with having you guys post that far ahead, even past Mr. Hawthorne's snide questioning of you. Go ahead and make a perception test, visual, once you get to him. Let me know if you think your character would make a big deal of it, or you want me to post responses from him or something. Once in the meeting room, make another perception test (astral too, I'm sure Nvwati). Assume Carver greets you upon entry with something like "Hello, please sit down". Nothing too out of the ordinary.

Josie
If you message Carver, he will tell you where to go for the meet. Put that in your post if that's what you decide to do.

Actually, you should be rolling 2 dice, not 3, since you are defaulting to Intuition as you lack the Perception skill (-1 to pool for defaulting). Don't worry about this roll, since it isn't that important, but keep that in mind for future rolls.

Nvwati's cool with the questioning. It takes more than that to ruffle her ;)

Perception test:
CODE
Intuition (3) + Perception (3) + Visual Enhancement (3) = 9 (6 astral)
Normal: 2 2 5 5 2 6 6 6 5   Hits: 6
Astral: 1 5 2 4 2 6   Hits: 2

Also, assensing tests:
CODE
Intuition (3) + Assensing (3) = 6 dice
Man: 5 2 3 1 6 4   Hits: 2
Elf: 4 1 2 2 4 6   Hits: 1

I was torn over whether to weave this in IC or not. I settled on just putting it here:

Physical description:

Nvwatiis a relatively nondescript human of about five and a half feet and a slight build. She looks decidedly Native American, though it doesn't look pure. She is wearing an armor jacket pulled tight and a pair of plain grey slacks. Around one of her wrists is a silver bracelet inlaid with turquoise in the NAN style.

Chiller will follow Josie, as that's whom gave him the invite. Josie can do all the talking. if asked Chiller just points to Josie and says he's with him. Feel free to include the ICly in your post mrMiracle.

CODE
int 2 + Perception   4 + Vision enhancement 3 = 9
6  5  5  5  5  4  4  2  2 = 5 hits
6  6  6  4  4  4  2  2  1 = 3 hits

CODE

Perception Tests:
  Hawthorne: Intuition (5) -1 (defaulting) + Visual Enhancement (3) = 7 dice
        [5] [4] [2] [3] [4] [4] [6]= 2 hits, 0 ones
  AR Hawthorne: Electronics (4) + Analize (4) + Technomancer (2) = 10 dice
        [4] [3] [6] [1] [4] [3] [3] [2] [4] [4] = 1 hits, 1 one
  Meeting: Intuition (5) -1 (defaulting) + Visual Enhancement (3) = 7 dice
        [3] [6] [1] [3] [2] [1] [1] = 1 hit, 3 ones (a glitch?)
  AR Meeting: Electronics (4) + Analize (4) + Technomancer (2) = 10 dice
        [1] [2] [3] [6] [5] [6] [1] [6] [1] [3] = 4 hits, 3 ones

I'm not really sure if that second roll was a glitch or not. My dice rolling program said it was.. .but it looks like 3/7 dice, and I htought you needed half or more of the dice to be 1's to be a glitch.

Oh well, if it is, a perception test isn't worth wasting edge on to un-glitch, so I'll take it.

That is not a glitch. The rules state that "half of the pool dice or more" have to be 1's in order to glitch; if you also rolled no successes, then that makes it a critical glitch (mucho no bueno).

Mister Juan
I kinda skipped over your dramatic entrance, although feel free to post in past tense or something to make up for it.

Everyone Else
Yeah, I know, total cliffhanger, so Carver's text is forthcoming. In the meantime, I'd like to hear (probably in thought form) your character's reactions to the other characters (and the NPC's). Also, if you feel slighted by what I wrote for your awesome perception roll, it was probably because I couldn't think of anything. So if you were after something particular, please say so.

DireRadiant
By the way, I liked your last post very much, it really seemed true to the typical veteran shadowrunner thought pattern. Excellent!
