Too bad SR Form Fitting Body Armor has zero or near-zero protection from Impact, while the material discussed in the linked article seems to be only useful against bludgeoning.

There's also shear thickening and magnetorheological fluids. Some of us can't wait until we start seeing some serious applications of these materials -- apart from alpine ski-wear. :P

MR fluids show up in semi-active suspensions and shock absorbers. It's a low key but "serious" application.

Sorry, let me re-phrase that: "serious armor-related applications" ;)

Isn't this along the lines of the "Victory" Rapid Transit Jumpsuit?

soo.. its ooblek?? you know corn starch and water, you can let ur hand sink.. but any sudden movement into or out of it makes it seem hard... we could just get 2 jumps suits, one skin tight, the other just over skin tight, and fill the space between with ooblek... with small barriers to keep it from all going to your ankles.... ooh i just got a silly character idea.
