I think in SR, the trick is to bundle the encryption with some nice and unpleasent forms of more agressive malware, eg: Black IC, Psychotropic IC, an auto-overwrite function...

Or flat steel the data, delete it from there system and offer to sell it back to them.

Just don’t take there financial records or they wont know if they can afford to pay your price.
