Dont worry, every thing you've heard is true.

I'm sorry, but I believe that breathing soul into one's character is more important than minmaxing the hell out of him.

And let me say 'YAY' for role over roll playing. Even if its going into Emo's game =p

The only ware I've been tempted to drop into a Technomancer is:
1) Datajack for legacy hardware, hacking into non-wireless maglocks, private communication between two people, and history (whether the character was Otaku before the crash)
2) Mnemonic Enhancer (nothing like getting a little more juice out of your brainpan)
3) Skillwires if you want your TM to be more of a vehicle rigger type

Outside of that, I agree with FanGirl, keep the body pure!

(with the exception of my powerpuff girls cyberzombie team even that didn't recieve unduely harsh criticism).

That's because no criticism would be too harsh.

And who else was weird but abrasive? I've already seen the "Lesbian Elf Ninja saves Stuffer Shack" and "OMG FLAME CREEPWOOD TO THE GROUND" threads.

Good times.

Nah, they're just lulling you into a false sense of security plus SL James doesn't seem to be here yet. I'm sure he can muster some nasty.

Dude, even if I min/max the hell out of my character, I believe in super-roleplaying. Which is why my character has, like, 2 pages of backstory that I plan on pulling into the game later on. That is, if the other players don't kill me for derailing the plot.

Must be previous editionitist that has me stuck on Netspeak.. Regardless I'm still going to call it Netspeak, cause unlike the kids these days with their weird l337, using wierd letter combinations, my Technomancers speak in the language of the matrix, where even the real world is little more than personas, icons, bandwitdh, etc...
You think l337 is hard to follow, you should see half the stuff my TM comes up with. ;)

And yes, role over for roll play, it'll be the one thing that'll keep her sane with Emo's whacked out rule system.

All my rule changes do is make it easier for people to role-play. Which is why I made it easier for my character to do game-breaking stuff. I'm totally benign to the cause of breathing soul into characters; I'm just in the buisness of forcibly injecting it instead.

Emo, what you do is beyond min/maxing... as munchkins (though marginally) still follow the rules. (They just find every loophole possible) You have abandoned half the rules out of convenience, that's beyond the call of duty.

AND I'm letting everyone else do the same!!! Is that so wrong? If my characters make force 10 power foci, I'll just send them after the Azzie pyramid. If FanGirl submerges 5 times, I'll send them after Deus. Etc., etc.

Now that I think about it, I'd like to play is Ristul in an SR game sometime. Getting into what passes for its mind would be the ultimate roleplaying challange.

You can submerge 5-10 times ,still have a good playable character that works within the game balance. It all just depends on where the karma goes. If you take all of that submersion, but never once raise body, reaction, or dodge, you're just hacking on borrowed time. Same goes for massive power foci. MOst of it depends on the PC's smarts.

QUOTE (emo)

As long as it's at least interesting, and/or they are involved, you should be ok. Just make sure they're not involved as in "Crap, I'm being hunted by MI6, and they've staked my place out. Can I crash with you?"

It'll be fun and creative. Not all my ideas are based on power; most of them are based on weirdness. Which my character concept is.

Emo's games are more "high-powered" than "min-maxed". It is possible to build some truly monstrous characters using nothing but the 400 build points and canon rules. In one way, high-powered games can discourage that - when you have 8 scoops of ice cream, you are less likely to lick the bowl to get the last bit of it.

I have been through the "high-powered game" stage, myself. It can be a blast, but it has a lot of potential pitfalls. When characters get too powerful too quickly, it can lead to continual one-upsmanship to try and keep up with them, and can also erode the suspension of disbelief that allows people to immerse themselves in the game. Too many house rules and too much GM fiat can make it feel more like story time with the GM than a game with a concrete resolution system.

But I'm not going to bash it - it's also fun while it lasts, and it's no big deal to go back to a more down-to-earth version of the game when everyone wants a change.

You're not quite at SL's level of "pure glowing ball of hate"

But keep trying. It builds character to have goals.

Emo, when are you acutally starting this game? So far, you only have one character even written up, and the 'diary' thread is 3 pages long. I'm a little afraid to see what might happen when you actually start playing.

I dunno. As far as I know, he's never worked for a dragon or burned down an orphange (stop me if I'm wrong James). I'd give him a 4. Maybe we should just ask how many times he's been suspended and use that?

Really we should get Street cred and notoriety assigned to each poster in the spirit of 4th edition.

Crimsondude would have an awesome notoriety.

So would MasterShake I suppose. But Notoriety in a bad way.

....errr.... you know what I mean.

i agree fistandantilus3.0, shake would have a notoriety of 8 and a street cred of 2.

emo on the other hand would probably have a street cred and notoriety of 3
(there are some good ideas in his wacked out pages)

AH would be like fastjack of what captain chaos would have if he had survived

and me, well who am i again :D :D :D

I've only been suspended once. Maybe twice, come to think of it. Not bad for ten months.

And I can't be that bad. Just a little while ago I deliberately stopped for a jaywalker instead of running him down like an animal.
