I don't think any good can come from the direction this thread is going.
If this were Usenet I'd jump on the grenade and cry Hitler but that doesn't work here. Some of us play characters that make Hitler look nice by comparason. So, I'll try to put this back on track and make it more shadowrun related. How many people who claim be to female have played "male" characters? For that matter, with surgical options available in the latter half of the 21st century is gender really a valid means of catagorizing metahumans? |

That would probably qualify as a hermaphrodite... those, I understand, are quite rare - except for in the pr0n industry. :P Here's a new character concept: Hermaphrodite Adept Gun Bunny! (sHe wears pink and packs guns!) :grinbig: |

I'm not hot . . . at least, I don't think I am. I actually don't know. It's like Stanley Kowalski said: "I never met a dame yet that didn't know if she was good-looking or not without being told." |

FanGirl, I was refering to the fact that in Yahoo (Chat of Messenger) one often get's spammed by 'hot chick alone and horny, wanna chat?' messages. There are a few variations, though it's become so canned now that you know it's just a bot or script trolling for gullible schmucks to see their pay-per-view sex web-cam.

Both cultural anthropology and internet porn tell us that standards of beauty vary so widely that that statement cannot possibly be true for all cases. |

I never in my life thought cultural anthropology and internet porn would be cited in the same sentence to make the same point :P |

I can vaguely understand some peoples' reactions when they meet female roleplayers, however, I'm of the experience of knowing quite a lot of female roleplayers, for both standard pen and paper to larp. We're really not all that rare.
In the SR game I'm in (not the one on DS), we have a 3:3 ratio of girls to guys, where the GM is included in the guy count. |

psh, porn's been a part of society since there've been enough people around to form societies. i went to the cultural museum in Seoul, a few times. half of the artifacts there are little dudes with massive cocks, or little anatomically-correct chicks with their legs spread. there's even, i shit you not, a petrified wooden dildo. five thousand year-old sex toys.

Now that would be an interesting form for the next ancient power focus the characters are hired to recover to take. |

I'm not surprised at the poll numbers...
While my game group is evenly divided on gender lines, it's typically guys who post on the boards. None of the women in my group do any SR related stuff online. I guess guys a more nerdy that way. :D Personally, I've found that women bring a much-needed point of view to gaming groups, and I much prefer a balanced gaming group. |

I'm going to have to go with "not a dude" here. It's not that I'm female, understand, it's that I don't smoke nearly enough pot to be classified as a "dude".
