After a small run to warm up my group to SR4, the group's mage wanted to erase all the Astral Sigs he's generated tossing around Manabolts and Levitate during the encounter at the local stuffer shack.

For both myself as the GM and the player the problem quickly became, "Where did he/I cast that spell?" We both couldn't really remember with 100% certainty what Astral spots he'd need to clean up. This isn't an issue if you've got unlimited time, but what about when CorpSec or Lone Star is on the way? Or the environment is hostile?

My question is, I don't recall reading any rules about being able to spot you're own Astral Sig automatically, but I know rules exist for finding them (Forensics). So should it be any easier for you to find your own Astral Sig as well as remember where you might have left one?

Thanks,

~GTT

If it comes down to it, you could have the player make a Logic + Intuition check (which, I believe, is the check you make to remember things) to remember where he left his signature.

The other option would be for you to simply keep a running tally of the total force worth of spells he cast in a given area (say, the inside of the Stuffer Shack) and simply make that the amount of signature he has to scrub... track it by area, rather than individual spell.

I don't think there's any real reason to make cleanup harder on players... the extra combat turns of hanging around an area to clean up after the cops have been called should have your mages thinking heavily about leaving that much evidence for themselves to clean up in the first place.

He should be able to do an Assensing (+Intuition) test to detect his own signature.
