Goblin Rock?, Powernoize?, Rockabilly?, Sinthcore? & WizPunk ?
Could someone tell me more about these genres, they are all mentioned in rulebook, but I cannot find more info ? References to currently existing bands/artist would be great..I know the music isn't quite the same with mojo and synthlink and all, but just to get the idea... |

Goblin rock should sound like the bastard child of Gangsta Rap, and eighties/nienties cock rock(extreme, GnR)
Rockabilly is I think a modern music form. Try wiki? Rocket form the Crypt would sound about right. Powernoize would be like pure eigthies rock Sinthcore will be a Techno/industrial sound, sor tof like NINs less mellow instrumental bits. Wizpunk - like punk maybe but with wizards? |

I would think that Powernoize would be pretty hardcore metal. Not 80s rock, which is wussy comparitively. Why would goblin rock be a combo of rap and crappy GnR styles? Where'd you get that one from? Is there any official reference for any of this, or is it all simply in the head of each player? |

These are from my own head.
Some shadowrun music sshould sound like the eighties(it being the genres point of origin) and powernoize sounds just rubbishy enough for the eighties. Goblin Rock should sound rap like so that the use of Orzet is highlighted and big heavy chords from a GnR type sound would be cool and different with it (think welcome to the jungle), plus both musical genres have had a tendancy to say hey look at how well endowed I am! Orks apparently are(Burning bRight by Tom Dowd) so they may as well show off about it, so I combined musics with tendancy to do this. I never said it would sound great :) |

Where does the rule book mention mojo as it relates to music? I thought that our music has mojo now. I haven't found a reference to a specific musical innovation known as "mojo" in the SR world. I mean, I know that "mojo" literally means "magic"--which exists in the SR world but doesn't in ours--but why not just use the word "magic" if you're referring to that? Am I just confused? :? |

Ok, I feel stupid, but 'Minimono'? huh?
I guess that's a band you mean. Where are they referenced out of curiousity. |

Perhaps it's my bad with the mojo/magic thing...I meant that magic easily could alter or come up with some new interesting music...
but According to SR3 - Magic in the Shadows: Music has not affected the music industry as much as might expected and According to SR4 - rule book page 45: "The old-style acoustic instruments still exist, along with their old-school electric counterparts, but in the '70s they are joined by some wiz goodies that Grandpa could only dream about.. |

And of course, wiz is just a catch-all term, like "cool." |

Tsk tsk. You kids need to read more John Shirley. A Song Called Youth, anyone? Rickenharp vs. the evil wiredancers? Next thing you'll tell me you never heard of synners or Kings of Sleep.

Powernoize is probably something akin to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_noise
Likewise Sinthcore: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthcore Rockabilly, too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockabilly |

Nice linkin'.
Per the genres suffixed -core page, Goblin Rock (by Ophis' idea) would probably be labled Asscore. LOL. |

There's a band in Seattle called Outtasite, produced by Sir Mix-A-Lot, that's basically three rap guys backed by a metal band (2 guitars, 1 bass, 1 drummer IIRC). It's a hell of a sound. |
