if a mage has a power foci and a spell foci or any other kind of foci, can she use one for increasing her magic and the oher for drain or is it considered the same pool?

ie. jane has a magic of 4, a power foci 2 and a spell foci 3 can she use the power foci in determining the force and the spell foci used with drain

or are those the same pools? and cant be done?

It is legal to split up your foci. You just have to declare before your roll what you are doing.

That's SR3, can't be done in SR4 any longer.

Only one focus can add its bonus to each test you make, and the only thing foci give are bonus dice to the test itself- I don't feel like combing the book, but it's in there.

Agreed.

"No magician may bind more foci than her Magic attribute.
Regardless of the number of foci a magician may possess, only
one focus may add its Force to any single dice pool."

You could use a Power Focus to help cast the spell, and a spell focus to help withstand the drain, as those are two seperate tests with two seperate dice pools.

Note: A spell focus can be used for both casting and drain resistance if you withold focus dice from the casting test to use in the drain test. A power focus can only be used on the casting test, as the drain test doesn't involve the magic attribute. If you use a power focus for the casting test, then you would use all of the spell focus dice for the drain test.
