Yi:
Visual perception - 35 people now, 13 of them with automatic weapons, mostly AK-97's. 8 of them appear to have grenades hanging from belts or bandoliers. Cyberware - No cyberware present. MAD Scanner - large quantity of gunpowder, and approximately 6 kilos of some kind of high explosive, probably grenades. Radio scanner - no traffic, aside from your network. |

Sparks can you throw around some of that amazing Assensing pool action and astrally rape the spirit hovering over the locals? I'd really appreciate it, as I realize that there was one little skill that I may have forgotten to add on to my character sheet... :)

I will. It's 1:21 and I'm still at work. This is approximately the 5th day in a row of similar nights and I'm a little bleary. Crunch is a bear. I'm afraid I'm neglecting all games just now. It should be all better by Thursday. God willing, and the crops don't fail.

Stormcloud - Radio: no traffic besides your own. visual: Around 2 score people, several of them with weapons, rifles of some kind. Knocker - Visual: 35 people, about a dozen carrying some kind of automatic rifles. Bishop Visual: Almost every person standing there seems to be wearing some sort of small fetish or talisman, whether it be a collection of feathers, animal claws or teeth, or an odd looking bundle of plants. Your knowledge skill will tell you that most of these items aren't actually magical, but are simply symbols of their belief, like Christians wearing crosses. One of the six men that stepped forward with the rifles, however, is wearing a much more elaborate necklace, with series of interlocking chains and small bundles, mostly hidden by his shirt. He stands just to the right and behind the speaker. This is probably the village or tribes shaman. Charlotte - Assensing spirit: The spirit is healthy. The spirit's emotional state is protective and wary because of the arrival of you and your crew. The spirit is force 8. There are also no astral signatures of a summoner on the spirit, only it's own. It is a spirit of the earth. You understand what was said, nothing too complicated or technical. Go ahead and give me a Bambara + Intuition roll if you're responding in that language. |

Sparky - My apologies, for some reason I didn't even see the assensing rolls for the speaker, all focused on the spirit. ;P
Speaker - Healthy, but a bit malnourished. He's 1 part curious, 2 parts worried, and 3 parts suspicious, all at this point because of you. No cyberware, essence is 5. There are no astral signatures on the subject, no cyberware/bioware, no actual diseases. Buddha - You get the feeling that while they're not outrightly hostile, it wouldn't take alot for them to get there. They seem distrustful. |

Start as you mean to go on I always say. I think honest as we can be would be a good idea. They outnumber us and killing a bunch of locals would probably put a strain on further dealings we might have in the area.

As a player, I'd say kill them all if they give us reason, but until then let them continue to cycle oxygen.
As the character, let's avoid the S&K model as long as possible. We have to be in these folks land for awhile and they may just have enough cousins to make this little shindig seem like a cocktail party in comparison to the world of hurt the families would bring down on us. |

Sparky - As a general rule, I allow 3 options for dealing with NPC's:
1 - roll dice, modified by situation, and see how the character's skill plays out. 2 - role play and roll dice, modified by situation and what I thought of your speech 3 - Role play, and take a chance I'm feeling generous ;D That said, feel free to toss some negotiation dice with your next response, if you want. |
