Wouldn't having a decent Sim Module (Cybernetic or otherwise) completely preclude the need for any other kind of data link (Image, Sound, etc.)?

It could, but sim modules open you up to emotion attacks and others, while using the other systems allows you full control over the types of data you get.

Also, I think, by "default" your sim module is only active in full VR. The other devices are for enhancing your AR experience.
