Can't Seem to find any discription on the physical dimitions of Drones.
How big in meters or centimeters are they? In particular I was wondering about the size of a Steel Lynx. I know the book says large, but how big is that? Can it fit through a standard door? Is it close to the size of a bear? Polar, Grizzley, Black, Brown, Kwola? |

From what I rember of the picture in FoF, ther are around 'desk sized. That is, their entire footprint appeared to be ~4 feed long, ~3 feet wide, and ~3 feet high. They have 4 (or was it 6?) legs which allow then to raise their height maybe 1 foot? with a corresponding reduction of their footprint.

well my GM found some rules for size and weight in the rig 3 book revised he has told me that a lynx would take up about 90% of the room and all the weight limit of a bulldog van. or 2 med drones (dovermans) in the back
now what gets me if I don't have them fully active then it takes 20 to 30 min to setup and then fire up the machines takes another 5 to 15 min so the battle needing them is over and I feal useless at that time, or if I keep them in standby mode it only takes me 5 to 15min to start them up. Also did they change the fuel sources for these drone since some only have 10min or so active time I can't keep them in orbit or hidden (but active long)? maybe micro fusion reactors or something :D also the lynx could fit in a elevator and through a standard door since it can change for it, the trick is how to open the door or activate the elevator :grinbig: |

The MCT Fly-Spy is described as being the size of a large insect, and is considered a "minidrone." The LoneStar iBall is the size of a human eyeball; the occular drone is described as a LoneStar iBall, and it is also a "minidrone." The S-B Microskimmer is described as being the size of a can lid and is a "microdrone," so I took that to mean that the can in question is roughly the size of a can of Campbell's Chunky.
Given that, plus the Body attribute of the various vehicles, I'm guessing that a Steel Lynx is probably about the size of a wheel chair with no back or arms. Maybe a touch bigger. |

iirc, the lynx also has similar body to a motorcycle. since the lynx is designed to take a beating moreso than a motorcycle, i would assume the body is slightly inflated for it's size (and i assume the mass is also more compressed into a smaller area), so most likely smaller than a motorcycle.
drone sizes have changed considerably since previous editions... i wouldn't recommend using old information for these, IMO. and i believe the iball is assumed to be larger than an eyeball... it's the ocular drone that's eyeball sized. so far as i can tell, most guesses place the iball as being between baseball and softball size. but this is basically all just guesswork... we don't really have any specific information. certainly, i would allow more than one into a bulldog... probably at least two, and likely 4, IMO. depending, maybe even more... they are no longer the unstoppable force they used to be. |

i presume he was talking about earlier edition's rules.
since, as has been noted, there is no particular information on the size, weight, or other information on drones in SR4 |

There are people who don't want cyber-replacement seafood? I've always been partial to Maraschino Cherries myself cause it's like a little cyber fruit reduced to below zero essence and brought back through cybermancy. |

Back to the original question (sorry, I'm allergic to seafood :D ) I'd kinda like to have a firm answer on the size of the Lynx. I remember it as a beast of a drone, however one of my fellow players (new to the game) designed his charechter to RIDE the Steel Lynx. Granted he has only a BOD of 1, but still......

well I guess we will find out our answers some Year... if the rigger 3.5 book or whatever comes out, but since anyone can be a droner now a days I doubt it.

My opinion on the size of the Steel lynx was that it was small enough to navigate inside, so it would be no wider than about 3 feet, about 3 feet tall with the capability to go up to 5, and maybe 5 feet long which shrinks accordingly when it "stands up". And weigh 250-400 lbs with weapon and ammo.

Sounds about right, think hoverround power chair and you have a good idea of the rough dimensions.
The FoF depiction was just dumb. A drone that size should have more body than that, around 4 maybe even 5. While the Lynx is a personal fav and a mini-tank, I see it as something runner portable and you should be able to fit pair into a step-van with some room for a team to spare. |

Wonder when we start hearing stuff about the JIM suit, modified for above-water movement.
I'd give mine a religious motif and a poofy tail, and call it My Little Eva. |

I had an idea for a paralysed rigger riding around wired into a big anthroform drone. T'would be rather unsubtle, but nigh unstoppable!
I think I'd save him for a big bad villain NPC type though, probably way too heavy on the build points for a regular character. |

A friend of mine played a character like that. He was a quadriplegic and did his runs in a custom troll sized arthreform, vehicle armor is useful.
