Huh, I followed this link from comments posted about the taser glove.
Any reason you couldn't incorporate such an "taser" add-on to clothing or armor in Shadowrun? Maybe with an even higher charge? karma |

Ok that is an awesome jacket and I want one! I love the style and the arcing just makes it even cooler. I love this stuff, with these jackets, rapex, and whatever comes out in the years to come women of the future will be anti-rape ninjas! |

I wonder what'd happen if you put it on inside-out and turned it on. |

Strangely enough, I assume you'd get shocked.
They have that in SR4.

Has anybody actually tried building this thing and made it work?

Obviously. But is it like a taser, where it's a powerful enough shock to keep you from moving? Would you just lie there twitching til the power ran out or someone else turned it off? Or would it just kinda sting for a minute? |

Well, the thing runs off a 9volt battery, so it probably doesn't have that much juice. I figure there'd be one jolt, and then that would be it.
Although now that I've watched the videos, I'd have to say the guy touching the jacket didn't look to distressed by it. Not like what an actual taser does to people. |

it may use a 9 volt, but is also is charging a capaciter, which stores a high charge. It has a low amperage but will release 50K volts. Most tazers use low voltage batteries. |

The site describes the jolt to be more along the lines of the kinda of thing you get from a momentary house current exposure. I.E. you jump and you get a pulsing vibe up and down your arms and generally wanna let go. Not so much an incapacitating shock. I'd personally want to up the capacitors so you get the same effect as the Bundy Stunner from Snow Crash.
I want Satan's electric ax handle. That would be cool. -karma |

Er, the Bundy Stunner is a taser. Just one with a nifty description.
On a second reading, she had both the Stunner, a self-defense shock system on her jacket (which was conducting elecricity to the handcuffs they'd helpfully slapped on her arm) and a can of something called Liquid Knuckles, which I imagine is some sort of chemical irritant/incapacitant in spray form. Liquid Knuckles, mmm... -karma |

Well, I meant the move Ted Bundy used to knock the everliving crap out of a woman who he conned into getting into his car.
