How is this different than giving 6 free points worth of contacts?
Contacts are a reciprocal relationship. If he's taking bullets for you he'll be expecting you to take bullets for him.
You could be born his brother. You save his life when hitmen try to take him out at the same restaurant you were eating dinner at. Anything tied to family or life debt would be an excellent reason for having low etiquette but high loyalty from anyone who follows the old traditions of honor, such as many of the more old school and revered yakuza bosses. I like the idea of getting contacts easily via roleplaying. They may not be very loyal, but just knowing somebody's name and phone number can add them to your contact list. If they hang up on you the first time you call, their loyalty isn't high enough. You can then drop the relationship or try to smoth things over and work towards increasing the rating. |

... and expects you to take a bullet for them. And is hard as hell to get hold of. As covered before here a number of times, it is only an exploit if not handled as described in the rules. That said I'd strongly discourage a 400 BP character from taking a 6 and 6 rating Contact out of the gate EDIT: or even a 5 and 5 Contact as it is quite likely to get them and maybe the rest of the party killed if played properly by the GM. |
