The JackBNimble code was made by Dunk in preparation for the Crash of '65 in order to download otherwise lost consciousnesses into the matrix.

Unfortunately, Cap's code was corrupt and JBN deleted him. At least that is how I read the System Failure entry.

QUOTE (JongWK @ Aug 4 2006, 10:38 AM)
Somewhere in a virtual tropical beach...

- "More tea, dear?"

- "Much appreciated, darling."

;)

What a curious comment ;) I am reminded of Daniel and Marty.

The Orissa network? Pah! You think the Denver Data Haven was the whole of the Matrix? ;)

Lemme toss out a few random word associations just for kicks...
Datastreams. Threads.
Programs. Spell Matrices.
Commcodes. True names.
Agents. Spirits.
Machinecode. Dragonspeech.

Did Dunkie make JackBNimble? Well maybe I guess. But I prefer the idea that he was as mystified by it as he appeared to be.

I'm reminded more of the end of Seasons of Mists.

The Orissa Network is a "matrix" (for lack of a better term) of Yortlinga (sp?)-big magical monoliths-in India, these Yortlinga somehow "focus" magic from the nearby manalines into a "web of magic" that then send this big, big "manaline" into a position somewhere above India at an altitude beyond which a magician can project. (Sorry for the half-assed explanation, ask Synner for a better one, he wrote it IIRC)

There are all sorts of theories regarding the use/function of this thing but one says it is some osrt of Akashic record i.e. some sort of "mental record" of past memories/etc. When you said this:
QUOTE

It's 'a message from another world'! Which, IMO, is the Fourth (EDIT: or Second) World. That might not make much sense unless you're open to the idea that the Matrix is not exactly the first network of its kind and that maybe it's been resonating with something conceptually similar and far far older.

It struck a chord. It's just a crazy thought, but...

Why not?

Heh, sorry yeah I know about the Orissa Network (but thanks for the excellent reminder; it's Jyotirlinga btw). I was just implying that it might be one part, but not the whole, of what I was imagining.

It's Seasons of Mist I don't know (google-fu suggests James might be referring to an Ars Magica campaign but I have no idea why or how JongWK's comments relate to it).

Hey, keep in mind my previous post was pure speculation about a "happy ending" for Dodger.

Actually, there should have been a s on the end of Mists (changed above) which would have made your googling much more obvious. I meant at the end of vol. 4 of The Sandman, Lucifer is sitting on a beach at/near Perth, Australia begrudingly admitting to God that he admires the sunsets after having a brief conversation with an older gentleman about them.

But, yeah, like I said above: I wouldn't be surprised if they were both Matrix entities. However, I was expect that Dodger would manifest into an even more chivalrous (*ahem* fruity) version of himself, and Morgan would so be his queen.

Actually credit also goes to Jay Levine for bringing something to my attention and letting me run with it. Otherwise your description is pretty much on the mark, except that the jortlinga are actually relatively small artifacts and not monoliths (which is why there are legends that the Golden Horde made off with one of them).
