In the magic section of SR4 it describes the cost of spell formulas and instruction, and the process for learning a spell from a formula or an instructor. In the Karma section it says you can spend 5 karma to learn a spell. Do you think that this is instead of or in addition to the process outlined in the magic section.

In addition to. The same section that outlines spell formulas and learning new spells addresses that directly. Look closer.
