I don't have my flying car or a robo-maid, and we don't have moon hotels yet, but every now and then, I actually think we're in the 21st Century. Its news items like this that remind me.

What's nice about these therapies is the utter mix of disciplines involved. Gene therapy, stem cells research, etc. This is one of many attempts to put together 'big picture' therapies.
That said, it's sad that only two of the men benefitted; as well, 18 months is not long enough to stamp 'cure' on the treatment. Because there's no 'cure for cancer' people often don't realise the tremendous progress being made on the cancer front. While the disease as a whole is still a problem, we're seeing specific 10 year survival rates climb quite nicely. |
