Ok, here's some info a friend of mine showed me.

DARPA Home

The place you'll want to go is to DARPA programs on the left side of the page. This then lists various areas of research and you can get a quick overview of each, sometimes something more detailed. For Shadowrun I would imagine that if the governement is in no place to continue this research, certainly corps like Ares and SK would enjoy continuing these projects.

Here's a link to a completed project, the Self Healing Minefield

Self-Healing Minefield

Haven't ad time to really look through all of them, so if anybody sees something worth sharing by all means tell me about it.

I remember this. I would imagine it would be intimidating as all hell to see the mines hopping about after blowing up your supply van.

Dude, we've talked about smartguns with personality chips.

Imagine the personality chips for landmines?

Depressed? Suicidal? Vengeful glory seekers? Japanese accent? Wailing about a lack of a sex life before exploding?

The opportunities for humor are near-limitless.

Smart Weapons would be a very scary thing

Rigger: "Bombs Away"
Smart Bomb: "I'd rather not actually."

Then when your gun starts pondering the meaning of life amd quoting Satre you know you are in trouble.

Just make sure all of your weapons have studied Nietzsche (sp?) extensively.
EXCEPT THE EXPLOSIVES!

Ya know the end of the world's coming when they start putting personality chips into toasters!

"Hi, I'm Talkie Toaster. Would you like some toast? No? Then how about an english muffin? A waffle, then? Crumpets? Maybe a nice toasted bagel?Awww! Why not? C'mon! I gotta toast something! I toast, therefore I am!"

The Terran Vultures can lay up to 3 spider mines which actively engage enemy targets. Sort of like what they're working on.

But what about the elevators that grew to fear the future and sulk in the basement?
