wtf happened to my favorite gang?
The Red Hot Nukes were completely absent from the book even though they're the coolest gang ever in SR. Adept Dwarves with big boom boom.

maybe they blew themselves up. Those critical glitches are a biotch.

Or hey, here's a thought. maybe they just didn't include them to make room for a few new gangs.

When you have to condense three editions and a million pages of random Seattle fluff scattered here-there-and-everywhere into less-than-half of a small-form book...some things aren't going to make the cut.

Life sucks, get a helmet.

remember the leader started the gang because he had a "vision" of something happening in the future and wanted to stop it so he started the gang to have his own "army" when the time came.

Well, maybe the time came and went. He did whatever he needed to do to change/save the furture and now the gang is no more.

if this is the case it would be nice to find out what the big event was he wanted to prevent (and why he needed a bunch of bomb making dwarfs to stop it)

I always thought there were cute, but I saw major problems with a gang hat specialised in explosives. I mean, of all the illegal things the governement doesn't want you to have, explosives is pretty high on that list.

So the plan was to fight bombs with bombs? Or are you suggesting The Red Hot Nukes were a very poorly disgused front for Winternight? :rotfl:

I personally rekon the 'nukes' were just a gang of pryomaniac dwarves.
Nothing to do with winternight.
And sutch they shall remain, at least in my game.

as far as not including them to make room for new gangs, they were one of the morerepeated gangs in the canon so just dropping them doesn't make alot of sense.
if the leader had had his big thang happen, it should make it into the lit.
if they were a front for WN then wouldn't they be mentioned in SF
They're still in my campaign, but it'd be nice to have them in the lit too.

They probably weren't mentioned because they've been so documented in the past. Spikes and Ancients you can't leave out, because they're the two most prominent/biggest. Cutters you have to put in because they've changed. Same with the Halloweeners. Leather Devils, new leader. ON and on it goes. So who do you leave out? Or you could just say that the person that wrote that section just didn't have anything new for them. I mean, really, all they do is drink and blow shit up in the barrens. Not a lot to update for "plans in motion." I think they're a great gang, but I think that if they're still around , they need to have a bit of change of personality. Get some priorities and all that. Otherwise they're jsut same old same old. My two :nuyen:

Or maybe the fact that gangs sometimes get whipped out. They get hit hard enough by other gangs, the po-pos, or just fall apart cause internal fighting. Sometimes things just end and they don't go out with a bang, they just fall apart.

pyromaniac dwarves loaded up with large quantities of very explosive devices *ALWAYS* go out with a bang.

Brainscan had them as a pretty interesting gang of pyromaniac, explosive loving dwarf adepts with a taste for destroying things. To not mention them, even as a blurb that "Oh Grinder, yeah, he blew himself up" is kind of a let down. They were my favorite gang too. Even had a character, who's name I bear, that had a history of being in the Red Hot Nukes.

Despite my nickname, none of my characters was a pyromanic dwarf adept. Some had two of the traits, but none all three.

Loved the gang, though, they made some memorable moments during a seattle-based campaing a few years back when they blew up the facility the runners needed to enter.

What's up with those insane clown gang? They're gone too, iirc. Too bad.

The Holloweeners are still there. Listed as a medium-sized gang, iirc. They got stomped on a bit and had a leadership change.

He's talking about the Scatterbrains. The freaky ass clown gang that would spray crowds with LSD and DMSO or would graffiti the Arc during the shutdown.

Scatterbrains, yup. Didn't have the name in mind and my Seattle book is not here.
The gang's not mentioned in RH, correct?

You know, of all the gangs you’d expect not to survive past a
couple of years, this one would be at the top of my list. Led by a
psychotic troll named “Giggles,” the Scatterbrains’ entire purpose
in life seems to be pulling practical jokes—and I’m not talking
about joy buzzers and whoopee cushions, either. I’d have given
them two years tops, but they’re still going strong in 2070 and have
even branched out to pulling some of their elaborate jokes in the
Matrix (one of their latest was replacing a local mall’s AR iconography
with obscene imagery during a large children’s event).

...I'd say if you like em, leave em in.

One gang which a player/GM friend came up with - the Fremont St Bridge Trolls - (named for the RL sculpture in Seattle of the same name) have found their way into my campaigns as well and are still around in 2070. More of a "Turf/Neighbourhood Protection" gang.

The Red Hot Nukes, I still have them too (something about Dwarves with big guns, high explosives, and flamethrowers...).

Yeah, I think with the gangs in RH, it came down to both space and wanting to include some new information (i.e., some new gangs).

For our current Shadowrun game, all of our characters are totally new to Shadowrunning, and to Seattle. Bascially, we're doing the "Making our way to the Big City to make a name for ourselves" thing. My hacker's downloaded every scrap of info on Seattle he can and has mostly memorized it, so we're utilizing all three Seattle sourcebooks.

Just because the info isn;t updated or included in a newer version doesn't invalidate it. Hell, you can easily assume they're still around since there wasn't any throwaway text or shadowtalk about them getting wiped out or blowing themselves up :) Just talk to your GM about updating them a bit, or just transport them over "as is" and bump their timeline up a bit.

Me, I was always fond of the Steppenwulves for my mid level gang :)
