02:15:33 Tuesday 11 February 2070 - Deluxe Harbor View Suite, The Peninsula, Salisbury Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong

The view was spectacular, outside the cloudy haze from the earlier celebrations still lingered in the air, lending a slight warming tone to the scintillating myriad of lights across the harbor. The interior of the room was brightly lit by the antique glass glass chandelier, though that was hardly needed to see what was in the room. Dark mahogany hand crafted cabinets and stuffed hand crafted chairs and a sofa provided plenty of seating. The glistening back lit porcelain vases emphasized the luxurious tone of the room, creamy white walls, and elegant gold embroidered rugs providing elegant backdrop to the scene.

It had been a smooth operation, information provided by Johnny Wang had been confirmed with their own legwork. Planning had been straightforward, there'd been only one time they'd gone with a secondary option, and that had turned out well. All the pieces had worked, everyone had done their part, even if what and why they were doing it was almost impossible to figure out, but that was the nature of a lot of business here. The results had been spectacular. The eighth barge in the fleet of fireworks platforms had fired off it's payload exactly on it's new schedule. To the millions watching there'd not been too much difference, and not much to the team either, but for what they were being paid, the team had been very happy.

All smooth till this. The payoff.

No one was looking at the awe inspiring view outside.

In a pool of still glistening wet blood slowly soaking into the thick gold and silver hand embroidered oriental rug in the middle of the floor lay Johnny Wang.

The last member of the team entered, and closed the door behind, and they all stood quietly looking at each other.

-------------------------------------------

You are a Team that has just completed the run. It went smoothly, as smoothly as these things go, and you are just about to to do the final step, the final payoff...

I'm looking for 4 to 8 PCs to start. As PCs die off or get written out there will be openings as the game proceeds. No restrictions on archetypes or character races.

Chargen
- SR4
- 400 BP
- 200 BP Attributes
- Standard Availability and Ratings
- 16 dice cap on any pool
- No breaking skillgroups
- No Free Contacts
- Contact Connection capped at 4
- Hong Kong Setting

Background
- Format of your choice, consistency of BG with charsheet is important.
- Contact descriptions. The more BP spent on a contact the more description you should make. Or the GM gets to make things up.
- PC do not need to know each other previously, they may have only met on this run.
- You do not need to be from Hong Kong, you can be imported talent for the run. (I hope for a mix, at least one local and one ex pat or imported runner)
- Johnny Wang is a well known Hong Kong Johnson who has put together a one time team for a special job. You've just done it.
- BP spent on taking Johny Wang as a contact will not be wasted BP. (I would like at least one PC to have Johnny Wang as a contact)

PM me or post in this thread with concepts, CS and BG if interested

IC Post Format
- Lits style headers
- PC and NPC names in Bold
- No spoiler tags
- No sigs
- Internal monologue in italics
- AR/VR/DNI in italics and yellow

You know me; always interested for a game.
I'll start working something up.
Right off the bat, I can tell you I'm either going hacker route (since I've never tried one in SR4) or an infiltration adept.

Sounds cool. Write me up for making a mage of some sort, probably support over combat.
I'm going to have this character a foreiner to the country.
Due to that, I dont think I can take Mr. Wang as a contact.
I might 'hook up' with another character as partners or known people, but it depends on the character.

I'm down, if I can put together a character in time.
Will work on it this weekend.
Might PM a heads up to Fortune who was just complaining about a lack of new gameage. ;-)

Sooooo tempted!

See I've got this one character, this former ganger turned smuggler.. :D

Actually I'm kicking around another idea, it's just a matter of if I can put it together in time to submit something that's not complete crap.

In other words, I'm interested.

There is always your fixer/johnson knows this other fixer/johnson route. I'll help suggest a way for it to work.

No need, but thanks for the thought. :)

Don't know enough about Hong Kong to properly play a local, and I prefer the idea of a hired import. Maybe someone cybered up, since nothing along those lines has been suggested yet.

I'm definatly feeling like a character with some combat-ability.
I have played a lot of hackers and stuff, and might put together something tougher

I'll throw down Wang as one of my contacts, gonna make him a C4/L1 due to a referral through one of my other ones.

I'm thinking of submitting an updated version of a pass SR3 decker. I'll have to retool and modify his background a bit, but he might be fun for the run... depending on what other characters are included.

If anyone wants a little preview of how he is, he was one of the PC in the Tequila Blues game.

On a side note, hehe, I've drank in the bar, Felix, of that hotel you're describing in the opening. Very classy, though the men's room is hilarious, the urinal is situated facing a huge floor to ceiling window so it looks like your pissing onto the street below... very appropriate in the Srun world.

My challeneg is to see if I can get the PC's run through the fountain out front naked, and to take off in one of the rolls parked out front.

*snicker* I know the road patterns in that area. Depends on the time of day of when they can make their high speed get away... or slow speed... or heck, they can get all grand theft auto and pile through the hordes of pedestrians.

edit: Egads, makes me want to go and visit the city again.

An interesting thing about that area (I was talking to a family friend who also has spent time there), we were discussing all the tunnels that seems to connect from Ocean Terminal all the way past to Tsim Tsai Tsui East. Lots of underground shops and such that also connect to the subway station. http://www.aaccessmaps.com/show/map/hongkong_kowloon

Up, up, and away! I should be able to take a few people with me in a 3d escape route. :D
Nothing like watching a few wet NAKED people flying around downtown... 8)

The everything connecting is common. In Central you can basically travel along the entire length of the harbor front for miles and everything is connected on both the mezzanine and basement levels. the best shops have to have store fronts on three or four floors, one in the basement outside the MTR(Subway), one on street level, and then one on the mezzanine.

The railway used to run in front of the hotel as well, all the way to the clock tower at the Star Ferry. Every morning the produce from canton to supply the city arrived that way and was unloaded and moved around the city, live pigs and chickens and all. I can envision the spectacular kind of firefight/chase scenes you could have with a miles long train of passngers and produce parked along some of the most expensive waterfront you can ever imagine.

With finals over, I think I can put my hat in another ring. I always wanted to play a HongKong based game. I´d like to submit an ancient martial artist. He went into retirement decades ago, but recently, Jhonny contacted him and he came back to HK to fullfill a prommis from his youth.

I would also be interested in this game. Not quite sure what I would be playing but it will probably be either a blade adept, gun adept, or cybered sammy. I will work on it this weekend.

Heh, Konseki, nah, he dosn´t use weapons ;)

Besides, his reflexes aren´t that good anymore. He´s really old!

But he can play Mah-jong and teach Tai-Chi in the park :D

DireRadiant would you like to get the PCs per pm or mail or should we just post them in spoilers? Do you prefer a special character sheet format? Also, should I wait until I have stats and bg both typed down and send it together, or should I send the stats in advance, so you can roul out or rule in anything?

BTW, how much of each other´s abilities have the PCs learned through the run, if they didn´t know each other before?

Everyone will know each other's primary skill during the run.

PM or Spoilers in thread are fine for characters.

You can PM me for me email address if you want it.

For those of us considering taking Johnny as a contact, is there anything you can tell us about him beyond him being a Johnson, anything particular he was into for work, or was it across the board? His connection level, etc?

Thanks!

Name : Hikaru Matthews
From : Japan
Age : 19
Type : Support Shaman

She went on a few small jobs in Japan, mainly pulling escort duty or courier of small stuff, before this big job in Hong Kong. I have her father, Roland Matthews, as a Con-4 Fixer who works out of the Tokyo prefecture. She basicly nagged him until he finally gave her some really low level stuff to do, but was impressed when she performed pretty well with only a few hang ups that could be attributed to inexperience.
Just send me a PM or whatever if you might want your character to know mine somehow.

Here is the Characters History in short, name, timeline and more elaborate descriptions will come in time:

As mentioned, he is an anciant martial artist. He dosn´t use weapons normaly, but he is quiet capable in close quaters (which I got the impression are fairly common in HK). He is a bit cranky and stubborn and somtimes plays (or really is) a bit demented, which can get on peoples nerves.
I´d be open to know other PCs (especially from Macao or HongKong). He knows Jhonny Wang -probably extended family- though he is only around town for some months now, after he came back from retirement.
Now he lives with a young woman, who 'addopted' him as her grandpa. The appartment-building is an important geomantical keystone, so it is extreamly well protected by the Triades - removing the current residents could unbalance the flow of the chi. On the down-side, a bunch of Triade-Soldiers and associates is hanging around the area at any time and often crashing in the living room. Some of the associates have long fingers, so small items that are not locked away, tend to get lost.
The PC spends most of his days in the park, where he meets with the retired triade killer. The hated each other, when they where young and often worked against one another, but old age has left nobody else they can really relate to.
