I have a potential fix for the issue:
Have the players choose one option from the Specialization section, that's what they trained for. To add more, pay another 2 BP and add that particualr "skill" to specialize, you have to have that sub-skill on the list and pay the 2 bp for the specialization.
Narrows the fields of the characters without making making it too useless.
