I think General Gaming is sufficiently related to the purpose of the forum - to cater to gamers interested in Shadowrun. General Gaming doesn't host non-SR games, and only has brief information on non-SR gaming in general. It has never disrupted the other forums and, AFAIK, everyone is either ignorant of it or appreciates it.

Most of those very same points could be applied directly to the Lounge as well. And as has been admitted by pretty much everyone, more consistant moderation would have prevented it from disrupting the other forums (if it did), which pretty much means a well-administered Lounge would meet all of your listed points. :D

See where as you seem to see more or refined rules as the answer, which I obviously disagree with. But whatever, I'm not worried about what you guys do with DSF. It's broken toys for me anyways, so whatever you do cool.

No worries. Disagreement is a much different thing when both sides are better understood.
As far as taking your comments as negative, that was a product of the tone of your overall responses (which is admittedly difficult to judge in print), not of my having made up my mind on anything. You have actually wavered back and forth between negative and mocking, and sincere and forthright, which doesn't help when attempting to discern your positions/attitudes. ;) For what it's worth, I'm sorry DSF isn't your preferred style of forum (or at least, isn't anymore). But hey, you seem to have found one (some) that are, and you've made other people that might like it aware. Having had a forum collapse out from under me in the past, I know what a pain it can be. And it occurs to me at this late stage that this would have been better served with PMs. Ah well. |

I don't do the Private Message thing. To me, and everyone else has their own opinion I'm sure, it's dishonest.
Nothing I type on my computer is a thing I'd be afraid to say anyones face in real life. (Not saying anyone else would be, I am just speaking for myself here.) But at any rate don't be sorry, I still post here from time to time, so I can't hate it all that much can I? |

If Gen Gaming becomes what the Lounge did, then yes, we'd very likely close it too. However, Gen Gaming doesn't get much traffic, serves a very specific point, doesn't have posters who only frequent GG, and demands very lttle time and effort from the moderation staff. It's also related tangenitally to the main focus of this site. Should those factors change, then we'd have to re-evaluate General gamings usefulness. Bull |
