Alright let me see if I can get back into this.

I'd like to run a shadowrun SR4 Game, this game WILL have some house rules that i feel will improve game play and hopefully make things run slightly smoother on these forums. I will not be posting them yet as it will take me some time to flesh them out and i'd rather find out if i have enough players first that would like to play before i do that.

Campaign Idea -- This game will be based off a old campaign idea i never got to use in my normal role playing. The characters will be based as a start in the military, each a specialist within their field, they have been thru basic and know a decent amount. The military outfit is unknown, these characters have been in the military schools and facilities since birth and so know very little about the outside world. Please try to make characters with this in mind:

"You arrive at the facility and the gates open allowing your personnel carrier to enter. They have been telling you for months how you have been chosen for an elite team, of what who knows, however you can't say you are not proud. The officers that have trained you since birth smiled for what you think must have been the first time in their lives when they told you that you had been chosen. Yet, for what?"

character Knowledge:
Characters in this campaign have lead a very sheltered life, however they have learned about the "real" world. Think about it this way, if the only way you knew about our world today was thru the TV and books how would your views be?

Characters have learned alot about military life and have learned some of the normal habits of others from recruits that entered their team, from previous units, who were not born and raised int he military. The military has done their best to make these individuals as normal as possible even with the fact that they have had very rare contact with others.

When thinking of character ideas --- Each of the characters submitted to this game should be military specialists, this will impact their abilities and such as far as skills and points go so for now all i would like is a character idea and profile as well as a short to medium background for each char. Information as stated before will be kind of low until i see if we get the players interested int his kind of campaign, i hope this will be interesting at the very least int eh Shadowrun world.

I will state that -players shouldnt fear this to be a completely "military" campaign, i have no intentions of making this strictly and I've already come up with some ideas about it as i have been writing this. :D

Have fun make a char and lets see what we can get together! If players do NOT want this type of campaign i will try a different more Shadowrun Normal campaign :grinbig:

When you say military, what brach are you refering to? Or is this a multi-element team? If it's just one branch, which one and how extensivly have the characters trained together.

Oh, and I'm interested, and come from a distinct military perspective being both a base brat and currently serving, so, yeah.

Right now im pretty much leaving it open, i wouldnt mind going with any branch, when i GM i tend to favor the view of "go with the flow." I have given a basic idea spread and i would like to see what the players in general think/feel about it and what THEY would like to see. The ideas i have for the campaign can basically shift to any branch and in my opinion role playing should be flexible so i will be able to switch things and get things in proper order for anything the players would like to try.

I'd like to note however i do NOT come from a military background, i read allot, love Tactics and military theory books and such however i personally don't know everything about the military life so for those. like yourself, with more information and such on it please be aware what i put in to the he campaign may not be 100% "Military"

To answer your question if the above didn't get it well enough, basically its your choice, Characters can come from several different branchs (probably most likely ) or from the same one with different skill sets. The team however will NOT know each other very well, you will start with about 2-3 weeks worth of training together, which may or may not be acuall game play time, we will decided when we get all of the characters together.

I've got a mixed Air Force/Navy background myself... but the concept I've got in mind, while Navy, is definitly not my area of expertise... I could make the specialist equivalent to my trade... but I doubt receiving drafted messages and forwarding them on would be a very dynamic concept for a shadowrunner, eh? :D

I'm definitely interested, but it'll take me a little time to put together a character.

Due to low player population interest in this game im closing it, however i will be running the other game because that one has 2-3 more players =)

I will bring this concept up again in the future for anyone interetsed and to see if we can get a few extra people then.

Zak, Fortune, Callidus, Digital are the ones that showed interest. Normally 1-2 people drop from a game fairly soon into any of these games so that would leave us low on players, however im willing to run it still if we wann give it a whirl.

Quality? I didn't know lunacy had that high of a value nowadays. :D

Anyway, I'm still interested ... but have done Sweet FA as far as putting anything together yet ... even a concept.

I do have a question though ... What Nation/Corp/Faction are supposed to be serving?

Alright lets give it a whirl then, WTH why not, The faction you will be serving will be UCAS. Going with that one cause its the one i know the most about =)

If you would like to try a different one or some change of scenery tell me, i'm sure i can spend a few hours researching and have it set up =)

woohoo *8-> Well I'll put my hat in for a team sniper, I'd have a go at rigging (or it's new equivient) but really not got a good handle on the standard bits of SR4 yet *8-< As it's a small team, would it be more use for me to go sniper or pigman (AR, machine gun style?)

I'll try to whip up a vague background tonight or tomorrow and get it up once it's vaguely coherent *8->

Quick question that popped to mind as I plowed back through character gen in SR4 to refresh my memory for the concept..... Skill Groups.... BBB doesn't really say if you can increase a single skill within a purchased skill group....

I was thinking that with the military training background taking Firearms skill group at about 2 makes sense as they'd have trained with all types of guns per specialisation, but if I go sniper I need longarms, and would take it higher than 2. So, mostly is it allowed to increase just longarms? and if so do you rebuy from scratch or just pay the difference? eg. firearms 2 (20BP) and then Longarms 4 (16BP [rebuy from scratch] or 8BP [buy up]). Of course if the skill group ever went up you'd kinda write off some BPs rather than auto upgrade the longarms skill but hey *8->

[edit]Re reading the start post this is probably a waaaay ahead of the start type question so prolly doesn't need an answer, but I'll leave it up as I'm curious of opinions *8->[/edit]

I believe u can do a skill above the group cap normally, IE 2 in Firearms and a 4 in Longarms would give you a 6 in long arms. If that is not correct Via the book then it will be a house rule for this game because i dont see why it shouldnt and it makes sense to me =)

How much do you want for a concept? Iīve got enough rolling in my head for a few paragraphs, but since these are indoctrinated soldiers, itīs going to be hard to give much else.

I'm hating to say this, but I'm not sure I'll be able to devote the time required for this game. :(

Please don't take it as a personal affront though. The problem is that things went from completely dry to games opening all over the place. I don't want to join too many, as then I don't really feel I give the game the attention it deserves, and besides that, it just isn't as much fun for me.

So, I apologize for my bad form.
