Well first of all hi guys. I been an SR\fan since 2nd ed but I only found out that SR4 came out a few weeks ago. I just had a few questions regarding material alredy available for it.

Do we have anything like the SR companion this time around or is that all in the main rulebook. Likewise is it the same with the cannon companion? I had some interesting martial arts characters since Cannon Companion kicking around. Made one myself as point of fact. Are the MA rules now gone?

Some material that was in the SR3Comp was folded into the core rules, such as a point-buy system.

Martial arts rules [along with other combat-related rules, gear, and vehicles] will be in Arsenal, which is in writing/playtesting at this time.

Odd question, Adam, but, will there be robotics in there as well? Humanoid, or even flesh-coated "RealBots", either with a Pilot and Autosofts or Rigable?

Because, like, there should be.

"OMG, Thomas Roxburough!"

"Nah, just a RoxBot. The real one's still stuck in a tank."

There will likely be one or two anthroform drones in Arsenal, however I wouldn't count on something like "Realbots" just yet...

Damn! I was hoping it was a little further along than that. :(

Oh, and Lodestar_77, welcome to Dumpshock. :)

Will there be design rules for firearms/vehicles ala CC and the Rigger books? Because if there are, one could just slap together an anthroform drone and call it an advanced prototype in order to simulate Roxbots (awesome idea btw!).

I wasn't sure is all. There's mention in a few areas (Like the Z-O) about "RealBots" being used as sexual aids (yoikes!) and realistic Cyberlimbs shows that flesh, or a flesh-like substance, can be used to make parts *seem* to be human, I just didn't know how realistic we'd have gotten by here. Having "RoboClones" of yourself that you could trot out in case of a sniper sure would be handy for a CEO-type, I gotta say.

"My fellow Aztechnologists, today we*BAM!*"

Well dang. SEND OUT JUAN 3.1!

Mind you, a few years back, we had a rigger add Rigger parts to a robot teddy bear to keep an eye on a kid for a contract, so. "I'm Teddy Roxpin, will you be my friend?"

"Stupid doll!" *kick*

While the guy's not looking, I'll have Teddy scamper over to the door, input the unlock code we got earlier, and let in our hoopkickers.

"Aie!"

...

Robots are cool.

And now I blank. Wasn't it MCT that had Samurai-style security robot-drones?

Or was it Fuchi?

I know Fuchi was rumored to be working on "Hardsuits" (That one's for you, EmoSamurai!), but, well, that's just Shadowtalk, so no biggie.

But *somebody* was making these neet 2 meter plus tall security drones and I always loved the idea. Hard to con an Autosoft. :)

Hachiman drones IIRC. Bottom half was track drone body, top half looked like samurai armor w/ a LMG

A good start, but it needs legs.

And Samurai-flavored armored baffles.

And a Daisho.

And glowing eyes.

Because, really, can you ever go wrong with a pair of eyes glowing from inside a helmet?

I say thee nay!

MCT has Otomo's. They're mentioned in System Failure.

I hope to see "real" looking androids soon, they can be fun, I've done a run with in a recent game with the team "extracting" one for a techno fetishist(the hacker accidentally tripped the self destruct d'oh) and have used one as a stealth cecutity system (looking a lot like Hello Nurse cause it was a hospital). In fact i have several semi anthro robots statted up for run I plan to do with a high powered team. if people are interested I'll post the statts I came up with.

To hell with androids; I want replicants! Gengineered flesh can do things that chrome can't. Sometimes you want to be enhanced without setting off every metal detector for miles or shining brightly on the Astral.

yes, well it's harder to buy an adept with the masking metamagic technique than it is to buy a genetically engineered drone :P
