...First uhh....no. All a terrorist group will need is a really good a hacker. No need to smuggle contraband (or snakes) on a plane. Remember the scene from Airplane II where the kid sits down at the shuttle control console? And god help us if Microsquish gets the contract for the software. I can see it now "Illegal operation - Please restart system" (while the plane is at 12,000m).
...Second Finally, I can get that clunky old keyboard and mouse off my desk. Now all I need is the holo display so I can dump the monitor. ...Third The only thing is, will my HMO cover it? ...Fourth uhhh...could you say that slower please and enunciate? |

Well its primarily aimed at mil. tech, so I wouldn't be worried about my 727 getting hacked. However the upsides of being able to have a handful of UAVs flying along with your ground attack fighter are legion. Coordinated strikes, greatly increased payload, better fuel economy, lower mortality rates among others that Im sure I cant think of.

That joke was done to death when the Navy decided that its new ships were going to run Windows. |

A virtual keyboard has been on sale at ThinkGeek for a good while now. Probably doesn't work with sonar like number 2, but I think it probably emulates the function just fine. |

...actually seen this before, pretty neat and compact.
Would be cool for use at gaming sessions. Just have the VK and a wireless flat screen at the table while your notebook is tucked safely away in a far corner of the room. Had a wine spill kill my previous notebook (a good Merlot too) during our last session. Fortunately it was an old pIII I picked up used. The HD is still OK (currently running in an old desktop for now) so not a big hit in the cresdstick and no important files were lost. |

Maybe it's old hat here but on "Mailcall" the other day they showed an army toy that is, well, a combat drone.
Called a SWORDS (Special Weapons Or Recon Development Systems) some bright boy in Iraq took one of the bomb defusing drones and after removing the bomb stuff were able to rig it with weapons. It basically has one firm point that can handle a .50 barret, M240, M-60 or 40mm grenade launcher. They only showed the M-60 being used and pointedly said they were not showing the camera crew the targeting system. It was controlled by a brief case kit. It had a range of 500 yards in Urban settings and 1000 yards in country. |

Can't combat guerillas effectively with drones I'm afraid, unless you already know where they are at.

I think i will stick with my keyboard. Imagine how hard it would be if you couldnt feel the keys as you typed. I would be making mistakes left and right, heh. plus i would have to slow down and look at what i am typing.

There's another semi shadowrun tech type thing right there. It's pretty neat. Basically take that, add AR and remove the actual objects (or heck, even not). |

...no diff to me. Have used touch "keypads" before, this just eliminates the physical device. Besides, that is what spell checkers are for. |
