Seen while attempting to post.
(Advice to fellow dumpshockers: if you get this, reload the thread or forum to see if your post actually made it through. It probably did, and you won't have to re-attempt, thus avoiding the dreaded multi-post.)

I get the same error. My posts don't go in triplicate though. When I hit back and refresh the post I just tried to make is there (one copy).

It's happening on PM's as well. Same SMTP error as above.

EDIT: The PM does go through, but the error occurs.

Getting this error will depend on whether people are subscribed to recieve mail notices on the thread, as the mail program is only called as necessary.

And obviously mail notices aren't being sent since I haven't gotten any since this error popped up. :D Did something go wrong when the validation routine got put in place?

Probably a stupid question, but will it be fixed any time soon?

TIA!

I got this, too, when posting my last thread. I was a good little dumpshocker, though, and didn't make multiples.

edit: I also got it when I made this post.

I'm not subscribed to any threads or forums and don't have email notification turned on, but I'm still getting the error. Is there something else I can turn off?

I hope that's correct - cuz my sent pms are not going into my sent mail folder....

Yeah, I tested it on myself before I posted that. Same as you, nothing in the sent folder (and obviously no mail notification). But the PM did go through.

Sounds like the sequence is

Send PM,
Mail Error
Then it skips the sent to Move a copy to Sent PM folder because of the SMTP error.

All I know is my last post (the first I made in the RSS thread) brought the error up. And the most recent one didn't.

Good show.
