Spend Spell points on an Ally Spirit. Not a horribly bad idea, but at Force 5, that was the whole 50 points for this Conjurer. I allowed it, but he remade the character because he discovered that although the Aid Power was cool, he'da been better off with a Force 5 Power Focus since he couldn't cast spells anyhows.

Here's a question that's almost on-topic. I'm creating an ex-Star character. Would you allow him to purchase a Ruger Thunderbolt (Avail 12) since it's explained in his background why he has it? If not, what if it was never used and kept solely for sentamental reasons for the character?

It would depend on how he left the 'Star.

If he left on good terms, probably. If he was dishonorably discharged, probably not.

Complications arise from how distinctive and controlled the weapons are -- refer to the various threads on that gun for ideas on both sides.

To spin this thread:

What's the silliest item you've ever had a player request?

-Siege

My pet moron asked for muckrake.
He said that will use it to cast spells off from it.

Now beat that one request :D

Silliest item I've ever requested as a player.

A Dikoted force 6 Chainsaw weapon foci.

I was trying to make leather face, the GM said NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! and yes he actually said it like that with extra exclamations, he even wrote it out. The bastard. So instead I had to settle for a big ass machete and a hockey mask

That depends, on some police departments (like mine) the department buys the gun, so the officer has to turn it in when he retires. The used guns are sold to eligible poeple for damn good prices. I could buy them.

Other police departments require officers to buy their own guns, so they leave with them.

The Thunderbolt could be explained either way, unless you cannot get a permit for them, in which case I cannot see a retired civilian allowed to carry a gun that has no permit available, but that's Plex laws affecting him, not Lone Star policy. I add a SA mode to thunderbolts in my game on the principle that the 'Star isn't absolutely retarded giving a required firearm that only has 4 shots. :P

In short: it's all up to the GM.

Though I am mostly a rules purist, I know one character class who would be bettered by that:

Deckers. No CMT Avatar CRAP for me, thanks. I'd rather not suck at the start of the game. ;) The Kraftwerk needs to be avail 8 so badly...
