What does that mean? i remember this being in Planetary, where a civil servant tries to assassinate the new Baby Jesus and ends up being trapped by clone john Constantine in an invisible box until he dies of thirst. Did FanPro rip off that storyline? |

Warren Ellis used to write Hellblazer (he also did stints on Dr. Strange, Druid, Hellstorm, and a short series called Metalscream for Marvel 2099 with his old partner Disraeli). Anyway, Planetary is one of his babies, and as a send-up to the weird 80's UK-centric mostly Vertigo (or what would become Vertigo) comic characters, he did a short storyline featuring a fairly obvious rendition of Constantine (and other characters, like Etrigan, Swamp Thing, Animalman, the Metal Men, Death, Dream, etc.), who at the end morphed into a version of another Warren Ellis character, Spider Jerusalem.
Warren Ellis has also used some other psuedo-Constantines and Constantine references, something he really loved to pop into his Marvel occult-oriented title run (these are fairly recognizable as references rather than cannibalization; he does that too, but less often these days). |
