I'm an SR4 player. I have no idea what Potency is, but it sounds completely awesome. Please tell!

When magical characters following a threat path do something that is either particularly nasty, particularly momentous, or both they gain a point of Potency. Exactly what acts earn Potency depends on the character's path and paradigm. Insect Shaman gain potency for every Invae under their control but other paths are far more flexible. A blood magician might gain potency for sacrificing a particular type of victim in a particular way while a twisted athlete's way adept might gain potency by winning a gymnastics competition using an ascetically vile but technically impressive routine.
Potency is added to their magic ratings, serves as a dice pool that can be added to any magical test, and does some other things that are mentioned in Magic in the Shadows. |

Actually, on mIRC, it's a trout. You right-click on a user's name, and choose the "Slap!" function from the menu. So if you do it to Tanegar, the chat window displays Spaghetti_Knife slaps Tanegar around a bit with a large trout, purple color and everything.
btw, "Spaghetti_Knife" is my alternate user name when somebody else has emo samurai. I must hunt down and kill all those people. |

I always thought the fish of choice for Shadowrunners was the carp. Or am I misremembering my years on the ShadowRN mailing list?
