... and he's a legend. Man? Myth? Something in between? No one really knows.

What we do know is this... Tombstone is a tall, lean fellow, wearing a battered old black duster and raggedy black hat, the rest of his clothes "Kinda western and dark", but far from stylish. His hair is long, unkept, and in need of a wash, with his eyes usually covered. He smokes hand-rolled cigarettes and, most importantly, carries a unique pistol, a revolver of some kind, which fires silver bullets.

Tombstone's not a Shadowrunner ... he's a gunfighter. That's important. No one can hire him, no one can find him, but, when somebody's ready, when they think that they're the best and are getting close enough to prove it, he suddenly appears. He doesn't talk much, mainly to find out if someone thinks that they're good enough, then challenges them to a duel. "That good? How's about you prove it." These are the last words that far too many hear.

Rumors abound where he's walked ... some say that he's a ghost from the Old West, risen up due to the Great Ghost Dance and now looking to find his match, someone to send him onto his final rest, which can only be earned if he loses a fair fight. Others say that he's the real deal, an Adept who mastered the art of the gun like no others. Still others say that he's not magic at all, just an Ares goon marketing a new weapon line and cybered to the gills. Some think that he's nothing but a legend, used to keep snot-nosed runnerpunks in their place, while others have used his legend to pretend that they're him, gaining gravitas that they never earned. Note that these last types tend to wind up with bullet wounds filled with silver.

So, what's the real truth? Who, or what, is Tombstone, and why does he do what he does?

That's up to you and your campaign.

He could be Ares' answer to Teachdare, an all-American icon filled with Deltaware.

He could be a spirit of man, immune to any mortal weapon save his own silver bullets, who can only feed off of Karma spent in a fair battle to the death.

He could be a young woman, out to avenge her father's death and assuming a vigilante ID, to cash in on teh fear it inspires.

He could be Death, here to reap in the 6th world.

He could be nothing more than words and legend, having never been caught on film because he doesn't exist.

What do *you* think Tombstone is?

I'm-a gonna say no. :)

New theory!

He's a real guy, who could be tracked down ... but he died a while back. Turns out that Tombstone's a Shedim-animated killer. When a host burns out, he body-hops to a new one, to continue his hunt.

Maybe a Free Shadow Spirit.

As a side note, something like the "Ghost Riders in the Sky," running rampage across the Southwest and the Great Plains would be a cool North American version of the Wild Hunt.

It's like Paranoia Agent with guns.

If I didn't already have a storyline pretty well fleshed out, this would definitly go in there.
