I was looking through some spells and checked some of them hidden away here and there like Target Wastelands. On page 124, Waterbolt and Splash have the same drain code and Range. Waterbolt effects a single target and Splash is an area effect version of Waterbolt.

I checked shadowrunrpg for errata, but do not see any mention.

IIRC, it's a +2 modifier to drain for area effect

Standard is +1 to Drain Level.

I was just surprised there is no correction. I guess not that many people bought that book. Or read it maybe.

Have it, read it, just never looked closely at those spells. I'm not much of a spellslinger in any case, but they don't leap to mind when it comes to spells to take.

I liked Target:Wastelands, though I never really looked at those spells. I was running a game set in Africa, and it really helped out in making the environment deadly. (I can't say my players appreciated it much, tho.) I think T:WL was the last SR book I bought. How sad.

I always figured it was a freebie/Easter egg thing. You get a cheaper spell if you bought the book and read through everything.

I liked them because they had less drain than other elemental manipulation spells. I am guessing because they cause stun damage. Before the T:W came out, I actually created a spell that did the same thing, only I used the higher drain code. I called it Firehose.
