I had a large post where the text at the end dropped off after I edited the middle. (http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showtopic=16785) Is this a limit of the board database or did I manage to FUBAR?

It may have been this problem. If you have two or more spoiler tags, than click edit, everything after the first gets deleted.
I think you'd have to try pretty hard to go over a standard post though. Remember Master Shake? That guy didn't post, he'd write a novel. |

No spoiler text but it is very, very large. Umm, very, very, very large. About 23 pages in MSWord. Looks to be about 10,000 words, aka 60,544 characters. At the moment. Minus the probably 500+ words that have gone missing.

I hope you typed it up first in Word then. I've never noticed a limit, but then, I don't htink I've seen a post that large. maybe Adam can give you a definitive size max.

No, it was stream of consciousness writing over the last week or so.
Guess it's time to move to a new post. Fortunately I made the first reply so I can keep it fairly rational for now. I wonder how close my second iteration will be to my first. |

Oi. That sucks. Any more, if I'm writing up something that I consider more "article" than "post", I try to remember to do it outside my browser just in case. Not that I have a whole lot of time to write anything that considered, these days.

Meh, I damned myself really. I considered exporting the thread to a text editor the other night but the dog demanded to go outside and I figured I'd do it the next time I posted. Bad choice. Always, always, obey the instinct to back up your data.

I found it really is a hard limit. I copied some updates from my text editor and they didn't make it into the post.
So FYI, somewhere around 60KB is the limit. |
