You know, I don't think I've ever done this here, but I suppose there's a first time for everything. I've finally gotten to the point where I have a modicum of free time to devote to gaming-type pursuits. I'm working on a PC for a friend's upcoming SR4 game, and I decided to actually write the backstory down instead of just wing it in my head like I usually do. The result is a small piece of intro fiction that gets most of Feargal Sharkey's attitude and life experiences across, as well as his reason for running the shadows in the first place. Let me know what you think.

I like it a lot. Does a good job of justifying a life in the shadows and also gives your GM some interesting potential storylines to work with. Very nice :)

I liked the bit where he goes on about how he was all mid-way thourhg everything. Important enough to bring on, important enough to sweet talk, but not important enough for anything else. Then he kills an exec, and he's important enough to send a kill team after, but the exec wasn't important enough for a second team. Nice bit of irony.
I like character backgrounds that include some of the character qualities nad where they got their skills. This one does that, so that's good. Also gives a good motivation for the character, and some built in hooks. That's always a plus. Going to work in that "Hunted" Neg quality on the character sheet? |

Glad you guys liked it; this was a nice little bit to come home from vacation to.
Fisty, glad you got the irony in the whole thing...that took a little bit of doing for me, because I tend towards the more blatant. I really need to get back in practice; I've been out of writing for too long, I think, and this was kind of fun for me to do. And yeah, Feargal's got a low-point Hunted, though I'm still waffling on a couple of details on the character sheet itself. Don't need him finished for a couple weeks, though, so I'll figure it out. |

It was good. Would be interesting to see what you do with a longer background, but it had a good feel to it. I like seeing the forearm snap blades too BTW. Don't see those enough IMO. Oh, BTW...
It's fist not Fisty. Thanks in advance. ;) :D Because the other way is just too dirty. Or you could just go with "of doom". That'd work too. |
