QUOTE (Kagetenshi)
Actually, most of the suggested contacts don't do anything that a Fixer would do. Most of the mentioned individuals get you equipment or information directly, and don't trade extensively in favours. Unless you supply that missing link (becoming a marketplace for goods, information, and contact), just having lots of contacts doesn't make you a starting Fixer.

QFT

Example:

A network of valuable contacts, able to get you certain goods, information, etc.

minus

Any desire whatsoever to share those contacts with others

!= Fixer

etc.

Well, I don't entirely agree (not with your idea, I suspect, but with the way you actually said it)—I'd imagine one of the most expensive things to get a Fixer to do would be to put a customer in direct, potentially lasting contact with one of his contacts. You can sell a customer a phone number once, or you can sell them the goods or services at the end of the phone number for a lifetime.

But yeah, if you modify "share those contacts" to be something more like "share the products of those contacts", I agree.

Yeah, I think it's the wording. And it was only one small example of a situation in which having contacts does not make one a fixer, not an umbrella over the subject.
