So I searched for a discussion on this topic and couldn't find anything, if someone else has superior search-fu feel free to point me in the right direction.
One of the PC's in my campaign is considering getting cerebral boosters. I'm wondering if anyone else out there has dealt with this and how long a time did they make people recover after having brain surgery done. I understand that some cyberware installations are done in an hour or less but in this case it seems like it would be a bit longer. |

You can sorta use the rules from SR3 (the rules for SR4 will undoubtedly come out with Augmentations).
Basically, surgery causes boxes of damage, so you just pay for healing of that damage as normal. Surgery damage is based on the essence of the iem being implanted (makes sense), and the tabe is as such: <.2 -> 1 .2-.29 -> 2 .3 - .49 -> 3 .5 - .79 -> 4 .8 - 1.29 -> 5 1.3 - 2.09 -> 6 2.1 - 3.39 -> 7 3.4 - 5.49 -> 8 5.5 - 8.89 -> 9 8.9+ -> 10 |

But healing is alot faster in SR4 so even essence 8 etc. could technically be healed in only one day, especially with first aid. And what hospital doesen't have that? BTW how can you instal 6+ essence cost cyber or bioware? Unless you base damage upon the cost before you apply alphaware etc. reduction.. |
