Ok from another thread,
Lets do characters from Mystery Men, 200 to 300 points total. Here is a link to the wiki on the movie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_Men 'The Shoveller' 'Mr. Furious' 'The Blue Raja' 'The Bowler' 'The Invisible Boy' 'The Spleen' 'The Sphinx' |

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: "Mother, I'm a superhero. An effete British one, to be precise." I have to do one of these, but I'm not sure which. Can I sign up for the bowler, please? I'll try and post the stats later. These would be a hillarious opposition team for a PC party. |

Are we talking comic Mystery Men or movie Mystery Men?
In one The Spleen has a radioactive spleen that gives him general superness, a force field, and an energy blast. In the other, The Spleen is a walking fart joke. -Frank |

Well, I was thinking about Mr. Furious, and if its the movie version, he'd probably have Attribute Boost: Strength of the top of my head. Of course, during most of the film he never seems to get many 'hits' on it, but when it finally matters...:grinbig:
Otherwise, Lined Coat, Bad Luck, Unarmed Combat and whatever else. Mr. Furious seems to be one of the easiest of the group :D The Bowler, if keeping to the idea of a psychic bowling ball, would perhaps be Magician or Mystic Adept, with a very high level of Fling/Magic Fingers and probablyt Throwing Weapons(though the spells would take care of that.) Must think of others.... |

The bowler I was thinking should have a possession tradition then the bowling ball could get possessed by a spirit.

The sphinx of course, only has one spell. An area affect destroy object (firearms) spell.
For flavour you could give him a bunch of enigmatic and cryptic knowledges. And a high tailoring skill. |

Way ahead of you! The Bowler Real Name: Carole Race: Human Attributes Body: 2 Agility: 2 Reaction: 2 Strength: 2 Charisma: 2 Intuition: 2 Logic: 2 Willpower: 3 Edge: 3 Magic: 1 (spirit knack) Initiative: 4 Essence: 6 Skills Climbing : 1 Gymnastics : 1 Running : 1 Swimming : 1 Etiquette : 2 Intimidation : 2 (spec: saying "why don't you tell me?" repeatedly) Leadership : 1 Negotiation : 1 Summoning : 3 (Spirit of Man) Very Exotic Ranged Weapon (Bowling Ball) : 6 Inflitration : 1 Perception : 1 Shadowing : 1 Knowledge (Bowling): 5 Knowledge (Criminal Organisations): 2 Positive Qualities: Spirit Knack (Spirit of Man) Spirit Affinity (Spirit of Man) Equipment Summoning Focus (Rating 3) - Bowling Ball Glasses Black silk cape with flames on it Big carpet bag. Eyeliner Image: A petite girl with dark hair, heavy black eyeliner and an black, vaguely punkish outfit and a black cape embroidered with flames and a skull and cross-skittles motif. In her left hand, she carries a heavy looking carpet bag that occasionally moves as if there is something animate within. Quote: "Say hello to Daddy!" Background: The only child of the noted crime fighter Carmine the Bowler (a vigilante known for his unusual method of assaulting his enemies), Carole has grown up to reluctantly follow in her father's footsteps after he accidentally fell down an elevator shaft onto some bullets. Preserving her father's skull in a translucent purple bowling ball (summoning focus), she can occasionally call on his spirit to guide the ball as she hurls it at her foes. Annoyingly however, her father's spirit continues to talk to her in a voice that only she can hear, accusing her friends of being gay communists and nagging her to avenge his death. She has an arrangement that once she offs his murderer, he will finally let her go back to grad school. Notes: Carmine is summoned as a Force 3 Possession Based Spirit of Man with Innate Spell (Levitate). Using Levitate on the bowling ball enables Carole to hurl it through the air as an ranged weapon. Carmine's spirit will also occasionally guide the ball around corners etc, but essentially requires his daughter to hurl him for maximum force. He will normally then return to his daughter. The levitating bowling ball is a thrown weapon doing (Str + 2)P resisted with half impact. It also does damage against barriers as an area affect weapon and causes knock back as if possessing Elemental Effect (Blast). EDIT: Yes, I know the spirit can't have the innate spell if she doesn't have it herself, but I think it's a pretty valient attempt to make the character under Shadowrun rules. :) |

Personally, I'd just make Carmine a spirit of air to begin with so that it imparted Flight to the bowling ball while inhabitting.

Ironically, whilst Spirits of Air have the flight skill, they don't actually have a power of flight as such. It's a quality of their materialised forms so a possessed object wouldn't necessarily have the ability to zoom around even though it knew all the theory. You're right of course that it would be less of a rules stretch than the spirit of man's mysteriously appearing innate spell when the conjuror doesn't have it, but I thought about it and decided that a spirit of man fitted the idea of it being the ghost of her father. Also, daft though it is, this thread has just made me realise the character potential of the knack quality in Street Magic. Mystery Men was a great film and for something so silly, it pulled off a really dark tone. |

Hmm wonder if you can give the "Spleen" the spirit power noxious breath? Pretty much sums up what he displayed in the movie.

Both the Shoveler and the Bowler look great, there. :D
Still trying to figure how to stat Mr. Furious. Ability-wise, the Strength Boost is there, Im thinking also Smashing Blow(the concrete) would work for him. Critical Strike? All under a Geas(must be filled with boundless rage.) Str Boost and Adrenal Pump don't stack, do they? Damn, not as easy as i thought it would be for some reason. :P Ill give it a go tomorrow, since it's a bit late here. I agree about the movie; silly but kind of dark at the same time. :) |

Mr. Furious would also have to get bonuses to his Agility, seeing as he can't actually HIT the badguy until he "powers up"
Also, the adept ability "Great leap" would come in handy for that super jump he does at the end. |

Don't forget Incompetent: Climbing. :D Personally, I'd make him a fairly regular fellow with everything possible put into Attribute Boost. With Geas (Boundless Rage), of course. Could we possibly use some optional BP for karma rules to initiate him? Other than ihs adept power, he doesn't really have much to spend his points on. |

Hmm....Body Boost would be appropriate as well, with a few of the hits he takes and manages to shrug off. Possibly Magic would be at a 5, just to buy up the abilities at decent enough levels for when they hit, they hit pretty darn well.
Ok, here goes: Mr. Furious Profession: Really Angry Guy Sex: Male Attributes(205 BP) Body: 3 Agility: 3 Reaction: 3 Strength: 3 Charisma: 3 Intuition: 2 Logic: 2 Willpower: 2 Edge: 3 Magic: 6 Initative: 5(1) Essence: 6 Adept Powers(All with Geas: Boundless Rage) Str Boost lv. 4(1) Agility Boost lv.3(1) Body Boost lv. 2(.5) Great Leap lv.3(.75) Pain Resistance 1(.5) Improved Unarmed Combat 2(1) Inertia Strike (.5) Berserk(1) Contacts: Monica C1 L6(she did sort of risk her own butt pretty well)-7BP Active Skills(42 BP) : Unarmed Combat: 2(4 if activated) Intimidation(attempting to act Furious): 1(+2) Athletics Group: 1 Etiquette: 1 Perception: 1 Throwing Weapons(People) : 1(+2) Edges: Adept Quality - 5 BP Flaws: Incompetent: Climbing(+5 BP) Incompetent: Intimidation(+5 BP) Gear(Resc. 20,000, didnt have anything to spend it on, dunno) : 4 BP Lined Coat(6/4)-genuine leather Black regular clothing Really Old Motorbike Total BP: 259 of 405 Erm, it's been ages since ive seen the movie, so im probably forgetting some things, but this could work for it. :grinbig: |

Incompetence: Intimidation? Perfect! I wouldn't give him Killing Hands - he defeated Casanova Frankenstein by hurling him into the Psycho-Fraculator (sorry, I have seen this film far too many times). There's an Inertia Strike power in SM, which increases knock down. There's also a beserk power which I think stacks with attribute boost, but it costs 1 point. For gear, he has a very old motorbike and a genuine leather jacket. I love that you managed to get Monica in as a L6 contact. :D |

hehe, glad it turned out well. :D I edited it and added your suggestions to complete him. I lost 1 level of Agility boost(he can still get 6 hits), and 1 of Pain Tolerance, managed to get Inertia Strike and Berserk. Also added a Thrown specialization. ;)
Ok now, we need Raja, Invisible Boy, and the Spleen. :D Raja for sure has Missile Mastery and Power Throw, with a high-ass Throwing Weapons(Silverware) skill. The Spleen would have Spell Knack: Stink. Invisible Boy? A very, very, low force Invisibility spell, in which he's limited to one hit. ;) man, SR almost makes this TOO easy. |

Don't forget to make it Improved Invisibility so that he can be invisibile to even electronic devices as shown in the movie when he got past the sensor to deactivate the lightning sentry weapon. (unless I'm remembering that spell wrong...) |

I love how the most seemingly useless power ever actually turns out to be effective at the end.
And yet, no-one has considered how the power can be used to get past automated disintergration devices. Priceless! If my game was just a little less gritty and realistic, I would so put this character in the game. Is anyone actually going to sneak one of these in to their game? |
