QUOTE (Lagomorph)
Here's some interesting info about shrinking/enlarging.

The Biology of B-Movie Monsters

This is a fun article. Not much that I haven't heard in one place or another before, but it's puts it all together into a very nice piece.

Here's my take on it:

Modified after the discussion below:

Physical spell: +1
Touch Range: -2
Duration: Sustained: 0
Physical Manipulation: 0
Major Change: +2
_______________
Force/2 + 1

This spell will shrink a non-living target by a factor equal to the number of net hits. For example, a commlink (resistance 3) will require five hits to reduce it's size by a factor of two. The spell effects objects up to 100kg, there is a +1 to the threshold for each additional 100kg. So shrinking a car, much less a house, would be nearly impossible for anyone but a high level initiate (considering that this was inspired by a Merlin character, that seems appropriate). Mass also changes in proportion.

I don't like the magnitude increase on the mass. ALl others are linear and cap it much neater.

I am also mixxed on the change of mass. Fashion tends to imply it can't. (though to be honest isn't clear if you could shring a full body flimsy silk see-thru gown into heavy leather belt. (not same size, but perhaps same mass / amount of material).

If allowing it to reduce mass also, I think I would be a mean GM (and lean on the conservative side) and say need to through in the 'elemental effect' (quantum energies) for an additional +2 drain.

Shapechange has no problem making a person change mass.
