So, is it doable. I mean you have the brain connected by DNI to the datajack connected to the sim module connected to the commlink. You have the comm and there is nothing but a direct connection to the guys brain. Could you feed him simsense and have things appear, or could you turn his ear or eyes off by feeding him simsense? If he had a hot simmodual and was walking around with it connected accessing the matrix through ar could you hack his comm and then attack his brain with hot sim?

If the gentleman in question has cybereyes or ears, the Edit program can be used to alter the sensory input to them, so long as the hacker has access via the runner's PAN. You can't directly hack his brain, since cold sim just doesn't give you enough raw feed to manipulate the neurons directly.

For hot sim, yes, yes you can. That's what blackout and black hammer are. Since psychotropic black hammer programs exist, yes, you are capable of 'ghost hacking' someone. However, the psychotropic effects of a black hammer program are set. You can't change the psychotropic effects on the fly; you'd need a separate program per effect.

However, it is theoretically possible to slave an ASIST Black Box (on the fly psychotropic black hammer device) to your PAN and run it over the net against any hacker running hot sim whose PAN has been compromised. These boxes are wangtastically hard to find and expensive, however.

It requires a PAB, knowledge of psychology, and quite some time.

Is there any way you could access his memories?

The example I'd mentioned in the other thread was Ronin hacking a scientist who had a datajack, and plugged in to Ronin's jack. IIRC he was able to exert a bit of control, but I do't have the book handy for quoting.

No, the brain can not be hacked, end of story. You can hack and send false input through devices, shut them off and otherwise cause them problems.
The only thing you can do to the brain is attack it.

Aries has at least on one occasion, brainwashed shadowrunners and turned them into corp employees in a "Total Recall" kinda way. But that wasn't so much a hacking as strapping them down forcing them into the system and then brainwashing them.

That makes sense, but what about Technomancers? Their brains basically are commlinks, right?

But you can't do anything you couldn't normally do to a comlink. You could access devices they route through there brain. but they have no storage space (RAW). So they need an external device to story any file they download.

So its basically no different, just a technomancers comlink section of the brain is always on.

You want to alter/steal/destory memories, or take control of the mind in a timly fashion. (as opposed to taking weeks or months and basically using torture). Turn to magic.

What I was thinking is if the guy had a sim modual he could still get simsense signals from it. It wouldn't really be hacking his brain but if you hacked the comm you could use the connected sim modual to send simsense to his brain. Even cold sim is good enough to give you realistic life like images. Hot sim is for better than life images. You would hack his eyes but be sending extra visual input to his brain. It would kinda be like a spam zone but the images wouldn' t be adverts. You could throw up a huge black box in his field of vision, or drown out all the sounds with some white noise. If you had the videos prepared you could throw in a guy running around the corner.

Can the brain also be used as a router? So if ultra paranoid street sam only used skin links and had his smartgun link and cybereyes not connected to anything other than his brain could I hack the comm and get a connection to the cybereyes via datajack -> brain -> cybereyes?

I see what you're saying here. Yes, you could potentially flood someone's brain with fake sim in an attempt to "overwrite" their natural vision.
They would take a -6 penalty on perception tests, as per the rule for percieving through your meat eyes while in VR on page 228.
