Seattle is apparently surrounded by the Salish-Shidhe Council, but there is virtually no information on them at all in the book, save for two half-sentence references.
Is there any fluff on this nation? Do they have the same technology that Seattle would? Are there megacorps and things like that there? Do they have more awakened than a UCAS city would? Thanks in advance. |

Shadows of North Amerika is the most up-to-date book covering the SSC.

the Salish-Sidhe is the home of your typical northwestern injuns. they're generally back-to-the-land types, which in SR generally means that they have a stronger Awakened presence, especially shamans. the megacorps have a somewhat lesser presence there than in Seattle (though, to be honest, 99% of the planet probably has less megacorp presence than Seattle).
prior to the Crash, the SS was at war with Tsimshian, which was basically the SS's evil twin. where the SS was all green and natury, with a hippyesque, almost communist economic/government setup, Tsimshian was a brutal police state that sold itself out to Mitsuhama. Mitsuhama basically used Tsimshian and then threw it away, at which point Tsimshian's subversive elements (the Haida tribe, and other tribes who were repressed under Tsimshian rule) chopped off a lot of heads and took over the country. this state of affairs lasted about five entire minutes before the SS moved in and took over; Tsimshian is now either a protectorate of the SS, or has been absorbed completely (i forget which). some projections and suggestions: the Haida National Front probably isn't any happier with SS rule than they were with Tsimshian rule. they're rebels, and the SS is giving them something to rebel against, so they'll probably rebel. it's possible that the HNF will find strong allies in the former Tsimshian government, but it's just as likely that the HNF and the deposed Tsimshian will fight each other as much as they fight the SS occupation. the HNF are some hateful dudes, so i'd probably place my money on the latter. |
