Recently a member of the German SR board stumbled upon this deviantart-member who claims some of the pics he shows online are actually Augmentation artwork.
I think they look quite nice. In other news: I dearly hope the Augmentation cover presented in Catalyst's sellsheet (PDF) is a mockup. It looks awful! It seems the artist has very limited (if any) knowledge of SR in general and absolutely no idea of metahumans at all! Those two orks (if that's what they're supposed to be) look like Buffy-style vampires who put in their fangs upside down. |

Wow, you're totally right about the buffy orks. That piece might not have been too horrible if it wasn't for that.

So they'll gonna add in some remote hand. Well, I guess that's okay.

The SM and Emergance covers changed dramatically from it's sell sheet if I remember correctly.

Ooog. Yeah, I think the only way those things will fit is if those are the new bio drones.

Sorry to disappoint, but that is the final image for the Augmentation cover though the layout and lettering may yet change. The orks are simply cyberdocs and heavily biomodded themselves.
As to the other pieces, they are indeed Augmentation artwork. I'll have to have a word with Mike about putting them out there before we do official previews. |

Out of curiosity, when is the pdf for Augmentation going to come out? (I'm probably going to get the hardcopy as well, but as Platonic Pimp pointed out, deadtree versions aren't searchable)

Only if they hopefully revamp the cyberlimb rules. Or else, she's totally ineffective and worthless to any team as right now. :( |

Yes, but that dosen't mean we can't still objectify her as a sex object. Heh, that would be a funny Face. Putting on the "bad-ass cyberbitch" look to appeal to people who like it, despite the cyberlimb being all but useless. |

As already pointed out over at the german Forum, the artist is Marc Sasso and among other things did the covers for Man & machine, Sota 63, DotsW and Loose Alliances...I'd say he is familiar with the SR universe...and a pretty awesome artist, too, IMO. |

Looking his gallery i've got some mixed feelings... loved some arts, hated anothers. He really does awasome artworks... but i really think he didn't quite good on Augmentation cover. The cover even have some strange "3D-CG" feel on it. The image is preety sharped on the Catalist Sheet... hope the end image, maybe with some better lettering positioning, gets better. I really didn't liked it the way it is now. :( :( |

They work horrible. They're still overpriced, cost way too much essence, aren't inherently stronger than normal limbs, have too much rules for themselves, don't add anything great at all, and don't do jack. The idea of cyberlimbs are cool. The rules for them in SR 4 are still horrible and don't mesh at all with the background lore. |

Unless, of course, the rules in Augmentation make them cool again.

Oh, they are cool, they just stink.
Rules-wise. Augmentation only needs to finally allow you to throw a car through a troll like is the will of the great gnu. |

Agreed, I very much like his work. Doesn't mean all of his ideas are great though. i think the pic has high and low points. I wouldn't mind seeing it in the book, but not on the cover. As has been said though, so far all the first show covers haven't made it to the actual cover, with IIRC the exception of the BBB, which I still hate. Sasso doing the cover though I would like. Just , maybe not that particualr one please? |

Given current rules, unfortunately, I find that unlikely. SR4 is, in many ways, a direct rip from my brain (I had nothing to do with it, I just think RB lives inside my skull and steals my SR2/3 shit), but SR4 limbs are just as stupid as others. They require direct house ruling by intelligent people. |

Well I have every expectation that the inside of the book will be great. But that is one ugly cover! |

IMO, because it looks too computer generated. It's not cleaned up enough. I would expect to see that image on the SR video game, not the PP. That's just me.
