Unfortunately Fist that does not appear to be the case... I had hoped along with you that it was a placeholder image, like when they used the pic for the combat mage archetype in the Street Magic sell sheet.

How was that link even remotely disgusting. Are you in china where they have horrible restrictions on the interwebs and have missed out on all the goodness of shock sites? Have you never seen Tom Green? Do you not watch movies?

I seriously never understood why images like that would gross people out.

I know, I know. I'd go hang my head in shame, but that would just perpetuate the cycle. Sometimes I feel like I'm just not as "Doomy" as I used to be.

I think that's the deal here. Some of the moderators actually expressed to me that they didn't know what a Goatse or Lemonparty even were. Those are of course the iconic websites that have become verbed.

To Goatse someone means to redirect them to a part of the internet that shows them something they wish they hadn't seen. And to Lemonparty someone means to change someone's homepage to something horrible while they aren't paying attention.

But if the moderators aren't familiar with the nouns let alone the verbs, then I could see why a naked man in a cow might shock them.

Just so we're clear, the one unfamiliar with the terms was me. The cow was gross, but shocked wasn't the word I would have used for myself.

What I expressed to Frank was mostly along the lines of consideration to others. I had an almost unfortuante incident a year or so ago, when I opened a link someone else had posted. When opened with one browser, it was the link he intended. But the pic on the site had been hacked ,so that when it opened with another browser, it showed a very close up shot of the unshaved female groin. Now, I was opening this pic at work, and if anyone had seen it, I'd have been fired.

Many people here view DS at work, and they'd likely have similar (although hopefully not too similar questions) asked of them had they opened Frank's pic at work and been seen at it.

For those interested . here's the Guidelines:
-No pornographic, sexually offensive, sexually explicit, or objectifying material. We'd like for our readers to be able to read the forums at work and share with friends without fear of retribution.

Second relevant Guideline :
-Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the modification or deletion of your post(s) and/or thread(s) by an Administrator and/or Moderator.

So that's why Bull edited it.

We now return you to your normally scheduled complaining about cover art. Thank you, come again.
Hopefully no one considers taht sexual, but the second part is the key here.

Don't worry big guy, you're not alone. I too went through the denial stage of mourning when I saw the cover (Although I worked my way up to anger by the time I posted). We'll all get through this together.

The lady in the cover really does look like something you could see in a computer game. Otherwise I think it's pretty neat, not so dark as SR-book covers usually are. Generally I think that the 4th ed covers are somewhat better than with previous editions. Especially 3rd ed. rulebooks had pretty silly pictures.

First off, tongue in cheek and being silly,

Dumpshockers complaining about an upcoming product! Shock!

Secondly, I hack teh interwebs and work at work and I appreciate the thought. I also refrain from clicking links at work - and I appreciate the thought behind the rules for links.

Silly comments on silly looking covers is fine by me. It's not like the cover is completely unsalvageable. You just need to get rid of the goofy looking chick with the goofy 'ware that's smack dab in the middle of the picture. :grinbig:

You all missed the point. It looks CG-ish so that the players of that video game that strangely choosed to be named Shadowrun will believe it's an add-on or a strategy guide for their video game.

"Hey look here: it's an augmentation to the game, it features a new human female, a cybergunarm and a brand new race!"

I'd vote for an add on. Strategy guides for FPS games often turn out to be a lot like listening to a John Madden play by play. Of course, some people could stand to learn a lot from such chestnuts as "When shooting a guy in the face, it helps an awful lot not to miss."
