To make it so the guards have trouble calling for help. To detect them calling for help the other guards have to subtract the spirit's force from their perception test. Not as good as silence but is a quick way to affect several targets out of the radius of a silence spell. Also usable by a projecting mage instructing the spirit of what to do.
Follow up with Binding or Movement powers to make them stick to the floor or run slow as molasses. |

except that the security forces don't likely have to rely on yelling to alert anyone by the time they're aware of you and able to alert anyone...

Guards would probably be using comlinks to communicate mainly, but that could be delt with too.
Also useful because, hopefully, most runs aren't actually corp crawls and are more involved. So this coudl be useful. |
