...try to take over the world!
No, seriously, if Doc Halberstam did survive as a brain-in-a-box, even money says Renny is using him as a paperweight. |

i don't see how. if i were Halb, i'd have been a brain in a box--or, at least, running a clone of myself as a biodrone, or better yet lots of clonedrones--for at least the past decade. it'd be like trying to find a ruthenium-coated needle in a stack of ruthenium-coated needles.

Ok, lets hope marvel never finds out. It sounds like a rip-off of their favorite villain...

No way, he's talking about Jackal. Because the Clone Saga is everyone's favorite Marvel moment. -Frank |

so, after reading over Aug, i'm left with a kind of odd disappointment. i like Aug. i like it better than M&M. if the rest of the game were as good as Aug (and SM, to a lesser extent), i'd be an SR4 player.

Just so I'm clear, you're upset beacuse the rest of the game isn't as good as Augmentation? Is it the core rules you don't like, the way it's written or format? I'm curious because to see which areas you thought were good in Aug and what failed earlier? And I don't mean cyberlimbs. :)

well, i'm not any more upset now than i was before i read Aug. what i don't like about SR4 is the base mechanics--the fixed TN, the stat/skill limits, and so on. Aug, nor any other book, is going to change what i don't like about SR4. but ignoring the parts of SR4 i don't like, Aug is a good book. the surgery rules are not retarded, there's a lot of 'ware listed, and the 'ware is uniformly pretty cool. it's got sensible stuff like cyberware packages, it's got continuations of storylines from early SR1.

Well the stat/skill limits are easy enough to raise or ignore, but the fixed TN isn't going anywhere. I agree with what you've said in the past about the fixed TN, but there's enough good stuff in SR4 that I've been playing and enjoying it. And it's a lot more approachable so I've gotten a lot more people to play it.
Although I wouldn't mind if some of my old gaming buddies wanted to play some real SR3 sometime. :-) |
