Sorry it took me a while to reply. Took me a while to research this one to be sure:
All computer skills are Program + Skill. Attributes do not play a part. Defaulting without a skill would be to the program. If you do not have either, defaulting is not possible. That was a great roll though. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Let me try a different route to help you |

Let me make sure I'm understanding this first; if you don't have aprogram, then you cannot do anything on the matrix?
pg 124-124 Computers, Hacking, and Data Search all allow Default. pg 208 - Matrix Tests, says that ou use Attribute+ Skill, except that you substitute the program for the attribute. But it makes no sense that you couldn't do anything without a program. I mean, do you really need a program to browse through a list of files off a computer, or analyze to look at what it does? Perhaps I'm missing something , but that just doesn't seem logcail to me. |

Let me make sure I'm understanding this first; if you don't have a program, then you cannot do anything on the matrix? You cannot do the task the program provides without the program.pg 124-124 Computers, Hacking, and Data Search all allow Default. Yes.. but in this condition you are simply defaulting to the program, not an attribute.pg 208 - Matrix Tests, says that ou use Attribute+ Skill, except that you substitute the program for the attribute. You don't substitute it, "you use an appropriate device or program attribute in place of your character's attribute". The character's attribute is never part of the equation here. [see next response]But it makes no sense that you couldn't do anything without a program. I mean, do you really need a program to browse through a list of files off a computer, or analyze to look at what it does? Perhaps I'm missing something , but that just doesn't seem logcail to me. How can it not make sense? Ok, here are a few examples. Take your computer and connect to the Internet. Now check the forum, but you cannot use a web browser.... Search Google, but again, no web browser. If you do not have a program for the task, it is impossible to perform the task.

Alright, screw it, not going to bother. How 'bout this... the buiding is only su big, and apparently Billy knows drek all about computers anyway. So... go to plan B and stroll down the halls with Select Sounder Filter and Audio Enhancer, listening for two women and a man doin 'business'. That'll at least nearrow it down. If the guy's a runner, he'll probably have better security than the building norm, so those two factors together should narrow down the search. And if one of the Chica's PANs is still active in the area, we might run into an area where it's active.
