It's not clear from your post if you understood this existed prior to SR4. I believe it appeared in the Lone Star Sourcebook ages ago. The book was talked about a little here and the mage mask was briefly mentioned specifically.

I wish they had swapped Arsenal's and Augmentation's release dates ... I don't know why they did it backwards. I guess they needed more time due to the variety of material being covered.
