Something I've been wondering about; maybe I just missed it in the rulebook. Does an attack with an AP modifier also affect pure BOD rolls for damage resistance? For example, if a character is wearing no armor, and is hit with Explosive Rounds, is his BOD roll reduced by 1? On a similar note, does AP from mundane sources such as firearms also affect magical armor, such as spells and adept powers?

Nope, it's a modifier to the armour value. If it takes the armour value below 0, then there is no armour, so it's just body. By the same token if you've got something that /increases/ the targets armour, they don't get the bonus armour if they're not wearing any...
Unless it explicitly states otherwise, yes. Even hardened armour (ie immunity to normal weapons) is modified by AP effects, so it's a safe bet to say that most other sources of armour will be as well... |

Which is exactly why a cyberarm gyromount and the Mossberg AM-CMDT remains my weapon of choice when dealing with paracritters.

This exact situation just came up tonight involving a AVS and about 37 ghouls. They had no armor, so the flechette rounds really tore them apart. A good thing, too, when outnumbered over 6 to 1.

I love having a longarms activesoft and a CMDT for my non-combat specialists. The CMDT isn't really all that great for "pure" samurai since they're so capable with automatics and grenade launchers, but a cyberarm gyromount and smartlink are both pretty inexpensive and practically -anyone- can connect with a mossberg set to medium choke and wide short burst at reasonable ranges. That's +2 to your attack roll and -4 to your opponent's roll and the high DV means knockdowns are a distinct possibility even if they do soak much of the damage. Not bad for a character that's otherwise a non-combatant.

It's good to know that the AVS is good for something besides taking out Citymasters. :D |
